wasnt that impressed. just an outside opinion. They LHAC freshmen league this past year was way down and they benefited from playing in a weak conference and created hype cause a couple of them can dunk. Big deal. They might be very good when they are seniors and maybe junior year. But this year i wouldnt expect what youre expecting from this team.

Let me give you insight on what the atmosphere is inside the High School. You have Administrators talking about state title. "LOONEY TUNES". Let me make one point, I have heard they haven't had 1 not 1 open gym this off season. Do they expect to just show up in the middle of November with coaches who, to say the least are probably the worse in the lhac, all are football coaches. None of them have college playing experience, matter of fact none of them were even good players themselves or have exposed themselves to enough basketball to make me think they even have a shot at a state title. Just imagine if the Football team goes to the playoffs and win a game or two. They could possible have less than 3 practices before our first game. With no open gyms, and a new system and a very young team who haven’t been working out for basketball, sounds like the making of a very talented team having a very disappointing season. I will make a prediction and say if the Trojans start the season with a couple losses, I feel a total team collapse. Very talented, but I’m nervous about the make up and direction our basketball program is heading.

Can anyone say for sure that Johnstown has not had an open gym this Fall. If so that is unheard off for a school, let alone a school that's best sport is basketball. I would be stunned if this is true. I would say this is a recipe for disaster. This could possibly sway the whole power of their section of the LHAC to a 2 team contest between BM and Westmont.

BM & Westmont will not be a contest. BM will smash them at home . West. may be in the game on their home court, mayb.

BM will not beat them but Westmont should be a good game seeing that they have a very excellent coaching staff.

Johnstown usually has good athletes, but their weaknesses are perimeter shooting and foul trouble. They will be quicker and more athletic than all the teams in the LHAC and that alone can win some games. However, against teams that can shoot good, run smart off picks, and play good position zone defense against them, Johnstown will struggle.

This is not good for Johnstown, but Great for Westmont......captain earth wrote:Johnstown hasnt had an open gym yet.
Let me tell you first hand what a coaching staff over their heads can do to a program. Just look at Westmont last year. Now were we state championship good, no not at all, but we should have won between 15 to 18 games. We definitely should have been in LHAC chase and district 6 AA contentions. The following year we bring in the best coaching staff in Western PA. Don't under estimate the need for a good coach look what we did.
This has the look of Westmont last year, but at least we had some open gyms. A loosing season and they will be having a new coaching staff, there is no way the school board could let that great soph. class go down the drain with coaches that are to lazy to put in the time.

Agreed CRIMSON. Honestly Hilltopper, You think Roman left you guys last year because he had a good team lined up? What was his record the year before? Not great I can tell you with much more talent. Face it you had a decent PG and a decent Center last year and that was it! Of course you did beat my Trojans so I guess I cant say much. Everyone on here keeps putting so much blame on coaches, but sometimes cant realize that maybe, just maybe ,they dont have talent.
