Small SChool Guards in Western PA

Here are some small school (only class A and AA) guards who are as good or better than Shubik in Western PA:

Darelle Revis, Aliquippa
Adam DiMichele, Sto Rox
Adam Bauman, Freeport
Lance Jeter, Beaver Falls

That's 4 right there, so I'd say it's safer to say Shubik is one of the top 5-7 best guards at small schools in western PA.

BTW, who has OFFERED Shubik? Does he have any solid, bonafide full athletic scholarship offers yet?

There are many rumors concerning where shubik will go to school. I'm sure he has his choice of D II schools, but as far as D I, I've heard Duquense is very interested, also Penn St. (his older brother was head manager there two years ago and is now working in the Philadelpia 76ers organization). Also I've heard some more D I schools would be interested if he attends a Prep school first after high school - UMass in particular. This was the talk early in the season. I'm not sure if these schools are still recruiting him hard or if drew is close to making a decision.

Id have to say...Drew Shubik, James Preuss, andy byer, even though they are in the westpac...they all have to be considered because neither of the 3 dif teams are stacked but they always perform in spectacular against big teams not saying that there arent any LHAC teams that can do it....I just havent seen it for the simple fact that all those bigger teams have more than just 4 other producing players around them

DiMichele from StoRox is a stud. Saw him play two years ago and was awesome even then. I believe he is great at football and baseball also.

Top Three Individual Players in 5-6 IMO:

1. Willie Morse, State College
2. Drew Shubik, North Star
3. Cory Tubo, Altoona

I disagree WPIAL Titan. The only one of those I didn't see play last year was Bauman and I would rank Shubik right there with DiMichele and Jeter. I agree on Revis being the top of the list even though he didn't play well the game I saw (due to early foul trouble). He showed in his limited minutes that he is a special player.

Remember I said agruably and IF DiMichele and Jeter are ahead of Shubik it is ever so slightly.

Hmmm

I said AS GOOD or better. My sources tell me Shu is one of the top 5 A-AA guards in western PA. Heard he doesn't shoot it well enough to play 2 guard...He'll be a pg in college.

Let's not even add in AAA and AAAA guards, because Shu would drop a good bit.

Truthfully, I have never seen Shubik play. I am going on what I have been told by those "in the know."

BTW, someone posted on another board that DS has bona-fide offers from D1 Air Force and Sacred Heart. Can anyone confirm? Also, if this is so, he should call SH today and commit because the chances of other D1s stepping forward are not very high. Could happen, but doubtful.

Good post Von Cap and I agree...Shubik and DiMichele are pretty equal IMO. In fact, my opinion, I take Shubik ever so slightly over DiMichele. I saw both play over the past two years.

My question

My main question is: Does DShubik have a full D1 athletic scholarship offer anywhere, or is the Sacred Heart/Air Firce thing speculation?

The 4 I put ahead of DShubik???

DRevis-Full boat to Pitt (football) and will walk on in hoops

DiMichele-Looks like he'll be going the football route, some mid-majors and a few majors are interested. Had he played AAU, he'd definitely be St. Francis or Robby Mo material as a pg.

ABauman-Already committed to small D1 AlbanyU

LJeter-Underclassman with mid-major D1 talent

Based on their college recruitment, I'd rate Shubik behind these 4 players in terms of WPA small school guards. I've never seen him play except for briefly for the Allegheny Gators in an AAU tourney last spring. In the brief stint I saw him, He wasn't even close to Revis, DiMichele, and Jeter in my book. Bauman was his teammate on the Gators, and he's comparable to Bauman, but doesn't score as well.
