I was surfing the internet looking for some insight on local sports since I no longer live in the state and found this site.

I am a 1978 Shade graduate, and was a 4 year letter winner in football, basketball, and track. When I read several of the postings I was deeply saddend. This is not the old Shade High that I knew or attended. Where the word team in any sports there ment team player, team work, team wins. We stuck together, we worked together, we played together, we won and we lost together, we were a team. We were humble in victory and defeat. We were proud of each others accomplishments, talents, and abilities. Learn from each other, what works good, what dosent, what works right, what doesnt. Take critsism constructively, step back and replay it and you might see things in a different light.

After reading what has apparently been posted by some of the student body, parents, student atheletes, and fans of Shade High School, I am embarrassed of my old alma mater. So, please end all of this now and stop the back and forth bickering. Let it go, see what happens. Take some advice from an alumni, just let it go.

I am so amused by nightshift callin some folks on here big fish in a little pond (he makes it sound like a big fish in a puddle) that I've laughed all day about it. Add that to the fact that he thinks you can google anything you want and info will get returned. Gotta be a young one here. What do you mean the internet hasn't always been around?

Well, he may not have his "Confusius says" quite right, but he does have a point about looking as if Springer should go to Shade. I think Dr. Phil and Judge Judy are waiting in line too!

You know guys. I'll put my honest to god name up right now. This is terrible that this is going on....ANDY BARNES, you need to let these kids alone and let them play....tyler is trying his hardest and so is the rest of the team including kenny gibbons (who is not WFKGConnection). These kids have been good BECAUSE OF WADE FYOCK, i am absolutely sick of seeing this stuff on the internet. If you were a true supporter of shade sports you wouldn't downgrade every kid on the team AND the coach. Maybe try supporting what is being done. Sure the "fab 4" was good but so were the playoff teams we faced and the "fab 4" could have been beaten by any of those teams. Talent can only take you so far. I remember in 97 Shade was to be the powerhouse of the county, yes the county including somerset, north star etc.....we won 7 GAMES that year.,...we had talent so shut up about the talent and thats whats winning game. I am sick of hearing all this. SHUT UP AND SUPPORT THE TEAM.....its not tyler smith's team...its not kenny's team...its the shade team...SHUT UP AND SUPPORT THE SHADE TEAM! ...ALL OF YOU!

Yeah, someone that puts it in perspective. Team, players and coaches. Be thankful for what you have. There are many who would love to be in shade's situation. Any one looking to farther their career knows that points alone don't get it done. There are many tangibles and intangibles that are considered when recruiters look at a ball player. Enjoy the season, the play-off tension and hopefully a long ride because for seniors their days are numbered. There are thousands upon thousands who will never experience a play-off game. Wise up you could be in Salisbury.

Kudos and Amen Jay!
Interestingly, the graduating seniors from last year enjoyed their basketball season but they have moved on with life and are absorbed in their college days. I've had an opportunity to speak with them and they are not clinging to their high school years at Shade, unlike the subject who has created all this tension. Many posters here have tried to reason with, chastise and criticize to get this nonsense to stop. Here's to hoping that your posting does the trick.

Very well said Jay and I know the vast majority of Shade basketball fans feel just like you. We want the TEAM to win and could care less who scores the most points to WIN THE GAME. I also hope this nonsense will come to an end. Coach Fyock teaches the team concept and these boys play a team game. This program has been very successful under Fyock. Also I don't care how good a coach is you still need the talent on the floor to win and it comes down to how the coach developes and handles the talent he has.

AGREE W/JEVANCHESKY -- EVERYONE SHOULD SUPPORT YOUR TEAM -- BUT NOT HOW ITS BEEN DONE ON HERE BY ALOT OF PEOPLE FROM YOUR TOWN.

MY QUESTION IS DONT YOU ALL HAVE TELEPHONES OR CELL PHONES OUT THERE TO CALL EACH OTHER. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE KNOWS WHOSE USERNAME IS WHOSE ANYWAY, SO WHY BASH EACH OTHER ON HERE OR SAVE IT FOR FACEBOOK, MY SPACE, OR AIM. IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO AND NOW YOU GUYS HAVE A WHOLE DANCE FLOOR OUT HERE.

LIKE I SAID BEFORE - YOU GUYS ARE LAUGHABLE ENTERTAINMENT FOR ME AND OTHERS WHO GET ON THIS SITE. DONT YOU KNOW THAT ITS EMBARRISING FOR SHADE EVEN ONES WHO HAVE GRADUATED YEARS AGO ARE ASKING FOR IT TO STOP

HATS OFF TO PLACES LIKE CONNEMAUGH TOWNSHIP, NORTH STAR, AND WINDBER WHO HAVE ALOT OF CLASS. YOU DON'T SEE THEM ON HERE ARGUING ABOUT THE PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE ATHLETICISM THAT IS OR WAS IN THEIR COMMUNITY.

I too read the Shade postings as nonsense and humor. I don't want my response to this forum to encourage more postings from the Shade gang. I just want to comment on the French.........My translation is..The good life for Shade.........Nice thought.

The only thing I'd like to add is that it isn't just Andy Barnes on here writting this stuff and I shouldn't single him out like most of these posts single out kids (negatively) that are working hard to become better. He is out of town and not able to get on a computer from what i understand, but if these "followers" are that displeased with...come see me, i'll give you the money to rent the U-haul. Move to another school where your kid can put up 2500 shots, 1500 points, and win 4 games a year.

This will be my 2nd and last post because these people that say these things about 12-18 year old kids are not worth the time of day to me, Coach Fyock, Coach Gibbons, or hopefully even the kids on all the teams from elementary to high school here at Shade.
