In the past 30 years BG has been in the state title game 11 times(an average of more than once every three years)! This is an extraordinary amount of times, are we to believe there is no recruiting involved.I for one say they have such a large area to draw from as the reason why!I also have personally known a coach from BG who told me yes that they look to recruit. Now you have AAAA altoona and holidaysburg to draw from for this small school power

usatf- You're totally without a clue... Where do you get your info?

BG's 2007 team roster was as follows:
Carroll, Helsel, Forr, Sullivan, Williams, Ciambotti, Conrad, Filer, Fulare, Keagy, Nuegebaur, Mull, Brennan, Hite, Rea, Seasoltz, Stayer, Williams

Every player on the 2007 State Championship team attended Parochial School in Altoona from their days in elementary school. My kids went there, I should know.

Those are the "facts". I'll challenge anything you disagree with.

If a BG coach told you they do recruit (which I highly doubt), you should have told them that they're doing a piss-poor job at it.

Day tripper - dont start with the old guy...he will go off on you about how dominating the sliding hill is and how bad the LHAC is. And then he will spew his "facts" about the private school recruiting process. He knows!! He is a graduate of THE Chestnut Ridge High School.
Here we go...

Day Tripper,

I normally don't get into these stupid arguements but you're the one that needs to get a clue. Where do you get your info, from the pope?

Question- How many kids did BG try to recruit in 2006? Answer- At least 1 that I know of. Fortunately (for TM) her family wanted no part of the great catholic education and told them no.

You can say what ever you want but I know there was 1 case of recruiting going on. I would be willing to wager a bet that was not the only case that ever happened.

Did this girl from TM play AAU ball? If so, i am sure all the TM folk were fine with that. AAU is a big time form of recruitment.

Why don't more people get pi$$ed of about AAU recruiting and how that takes away from the high school programs. No one seems to mind when their kids get the exposure and play for the best summer league teams. What about the local high school that is playing without these stars (during the spring and summer)who were recruited to play regionally with a group of all stars and not their high school teammates? No one ever complains about that.

To the people who "claim" the privates "recruit"- do you know 1st hand they actually recruit? Were you or your child once recruited by a private school? We dont want to hear none of this, "well I heard jimbo jones from Harmony was recruited by aliquo at BC bull crap. Actual proof of recruiting??

1. No she did not play AAU ball. She was at every spring, summer, fall league game TM played in during her 4 years.

2. Yes, I know first hand they tried to recruit one player.

3. I guess you got me on your 3rd question. It was not me or my child.

Shocker, you keep believing what you want. Just like the LHAC being the best "A" basketball league around.

The topic was started earlier by I think usatf oldguy and was titled Sideling Hill League best boys "A" conference. I thought it was you but maybe it was your hero WPIAL Titan that was argueing that the LHAC was better.

You have nothing intelligent to add do you shocker.Daytripper I get my facts from the altoona mirror and a coach from BG.Fact is the bg girls have been in 11 championship games in the past 30 years(1 in 3)!I also have talked to a bg coach who said off the record of course "We Recruit"! It wasn't too many years back when the one holidaysburg star player was tragically killed in a traffic accident while driving to bg after transferring in her junior or senior year. You also have a tussey person telling you they knew of a kid from tussey who was approached.I think thats enough proof. You keep believing that BG has such a great secret that no other team has! Myself and the majority of sane people can look at the past playoff champs and see the obvious edge privates have in small school classes.
