In this hypothetical theory of Richland recruiting against Johnstown it would be like....Richland isnt recruiting against Johnstown, they are probably recruiting against McCort. They dont want kids from Richland to leave and go to McCort, and they would be happy to take any kid from St. Benedict's or other catholic school kids that live in Richland. But maybe im thinking out of the box

well something has to be done to stop the influx of random transfers, its the only way the classes at mccort have fared so well the past couple of season. The parochial talent is not there anymore but luckily each class conveniently get "upgrades" . Must be nice.

Just ask C. Merriman about "rental" properties in the west end...

Too bad divorce or the economy creates a situation where some kids HAVE to live with Grandma. It's a little different scenario, though, when a parent who's kid attends a public school is willing to PAY $5,400 per year for his kid to play sports at a private school. Sounds to me like one is MORE INTENTIONAL then the other.

In defense of Chas Merriman..............he was thrown out of the house along with a brother. Besides, the uncertainty of who was going to coach at WH and if the superintendent would bow again to a few parent's demands, certainly helped him make a decision to go to an established program with the possibility of getting his education paid for at the next level.

very very slim possibility for any HS players in the Johnstown area no matter the school, especially when your playing against A competition in the playoffs.

Hey wallpaper. When you say that the "uncertainty of who was going to coach at Westmont" helped Merriman "make a decision to go to an established program", isn't THAT considered transferring for athletic reasons, which is against PIAA rules???? So, are you saying that Merriman transferred for athletics?

Wow I love when people who don't live in Altoona make comments about B.G. athletes. The girl went to grade school in Altoona, lives in Altoona, and her parents went to B.G. I guess she was recruited there though,. Know what you're talking about idiot before you comment.

I don't care where they live...should she be at altoona then? Since BG has a girl that lives in the Altoona SD, they should have to take on the enrollment of Altoona......making them AAAA.

How does that sound?
