Wonder if the ICC would let us in?

stop it! No fair!

I don't see Richland dropping. Haven't checke this year revised PDE enrollments for this year but last year over the next ten years RIchland and Westy actually gain in enrollment and FH drops. Tyrone drops but on by that much.

I know the current soph class is under 140 (upper 60's boys) the class behind is slightly smaller, and the 8th grade is smaller yet, that group will be close, if not, the 5-7 grade classes are right around 170 boys. They will be easily under.

More and more western pa, especially west centeral pa school will be droping in class size, It will also be interesting to see how fR the A & AA cut offs are also droped. The only reason this is not as noticable vs 6 to 10 years age was the addition of the Philadelphia area schools primarily bumping numbers up

Why wouldn't Blacklick Valley join or be asked to join the Heritage conference? This school just seems to make the most sense. By size and location, they seem to be a good fit. Would have to be better than traveling to Rockwood and Meyersdale to play games.

Blacklick Valley, along with Portage and Ferndale petitioned to join D5 back in January and were denied. The only one that made sense to me was Ferndale moving because they are right on the border. I think I saw someone posted about Claysburg moving too, which I think would be a good option for them as well. I know the announcers on the BC-PM game were speculating if they would join. I makes sense to me because right now the WestPAC has 11 teams, and the Heritage has 9.

Just for fun, I did travel times from Nanty Glo.These aren't totally accurate, but I think it's pretty obvious which league is better fit based on geography.

WestPAC
Berlin - 57 minutes
CT - 30 minutes
CV - 17 minutes
Ferndale - 30 minutes
Meyersdale - 1 hour, 12 minutes
North Star - 40 minutes
Portage - 24 minutes
Rockwood - 1 hour, 7 minutes
Shade - 54 minutes
Windber - 32 minutes

Heritage
Blairsville - 34 minutes
Homer-Center - 33 minutes
Ligonier Valley - 46 minutes
Marion Center - 46 minutes
Northern Cambria - 28 minutes
Penns Manor - 34 minutes
Purchase Line - 40 minutes
Saltsburg - 54 minutes
United - 17 minutes

When is the next meeting by any parties involved to decide something about West Shamokin and/or Leechburg coming in?

as i understand it, the heritage conference's people-in-charge are from the western schools and they want a school closer to them instead of cambria country. offers were made to west shamokin and leechburg and they are waiting to hear back from them. both have had discussions and are "looking into it." school boards haven't voted formally. did hear leechburg probably wanted it but not sure on accuracy.

things could have changed but when the indiana gazette first ran an article on it they mentioned that cambria heights, blacklick valley, bishop carroll, and west shamokin would be possibilities. said they couldn't get a hold of blacklick valley but that ch and bc surprisingly said they weren't contacted by the heritage as of then (even though conference secretary said in opening paragraph that they've been scouring the region contacting schools). don't remember if west shamokin hadn't responded to gazette or if they said they were looking into it.

i don't know if blacklick or heights or another cambria school would join, but i got the immediate impression heritage people-in-charge wanted to look west.

The Heritage sent out over ten letters/invites. With Marion Center leading the search we are hearing about the WPIAL (west of most) schools but to have that many letters I can't picture how Blacklick would not have been one since they borader both PM and NC. Blacklick is now a very small school and there are more very small schools in the West PAC for both football and other sports so I can't see a move

Before the Homer Center game they asked C Sponsky if BC would ever leave the LH's he chuckled and said we r very happy where we r. BC would never go back, it was hell the last couple years. Years ago conference and schools want to get rid of ya now they r desperate for teams what comes around goes around.
