Its not going to matter in 2 years, once TCU gets into the big east. For that matter TCU will be the top school for many years to come. Pitt will them become 3rd or 4th. WVU, UCONN will still be there. As for the roster, they may have a to 30 roster, but not a top 15 year in and year out. They have to look beyond the WIPIAL for players.

That's because this opinion IS fact: The state of Pennsylvania still produces a lot of quality D1 talent.

As for the rankings, any team can crack that top 15. There is so much parity nowadays due to the retarded amount of D1 schools that Pitt (or anyone else) can get into that top 15. In addition to that, there is a vested interest in the rankers to place a BE team somewhere where they appear nationally relevent. Is this not fact as well? Hasn't this happened each of the past 5 years or so?

WVU can come out of nowehere in a horrible recruiting state and win BCS games and conference titles, get national recognition for the first time since Major Harris played, but Pitt somehow can't. Even when Pitt is on the launching pad to get there. Do not understand that logic at all.

You can win anywhere, Kirk. Golden made Temple relevent, Schiano did the same at Rutgers. So did Petrino at Louisville. So did Snyder at Kansas State. So did Mike Leach at Texas Tech. So did Meyer at Utah. So did Koetter at Boise. None of those schools are any worse off than Pitt, actually, they were all worse off initially than what Pitt is right now.

You hate Pitt's fans and are not being objective about this. Pitt IS a good school, it IS in a good location, it IS in a conference with a ton of room to move up and down.

If Pitt was going 10-2 or better, like they should be, that team would absolutely be a top 15 program annually and would be doing even better in recruiting than under Wannstedt. Mike Haywood is not a splash of a hire, but its a smart hire.

Woninthetrenches, you better go look at Pitt's roster before claiming they only get kids from the WPIAL.

Its was a joke about all the WIPIAL kids. Yes PA does produce a lot of D1 prospects, but as you said there are a lot of other schools that get them. Not just PSU and Pitt anymore. Rutgers, WVU, UCONN, Maryland, Ohio State, Temple get a lot of the kids that in the past would have gone to Pitt. Thats the problem with Pitt, not there stadium not the fans. It he amount of choices kids have today that really hurt Pitt. Psu dosn't get as many top players as they used to. Look at what Maryland is about to do with hiring Leech. That will allow them to take more of the PA boys Pitt used to get.

No one said you can't win at Pitt. Where was it said? I said Pitt is not a perrenial top 15 team and won't be. You gave examples of Rutgers, Temple, Louisville, Kansas State, and Texas Tech. Where is the sustained success at those schools? We are arguing different things. you are trying to tell me that I am saying Pitt will never have good years. I never made that argument. Pitt certainly could win 11 or 12 games in a weak Conference some day, but to me that does not make them a perrenial top 15 team. It makes them a team that has finally taken advantage of a school made up of former Conf USA and Division II teams. I don't think Pitt has what it takes to have sustainable success. It's my opinion. I may be proven wrong someday, but I have 30+ years of evidence saying otherwise.

What Pitt has are 30+ years of poor decision making and bad hires. Pederson was a bad hire. I'm hoping Mike Haywood will not fail at Pitt and hurt his career. Wanny was a good hire, probably even a great hire, but he didnt get it done. What he did, though, was give Pitt a lot of publicity. Maybe its bc you ARE in Pittsburgh that you arent seeing it. Pitt was a darkhorse national title contender this season, and people were expecting big things. Even with a team who was not GREAT, they still should have gone 10-2. All they need to do is win the games they are supposed to win!

The point is, it doesnt matter if they are in what you and I know is a weak conference. That weak conference has an auto bid, and they have teams with national recognition. Pitt has national recognition. So does Rutgers and West Virginia. UCONN pulls a WVU and wins this game, they will get a lot of pub for that. Louisville is everyone's cinderella right now.

The Big East is horrendous. But any team who goes undefeated in that conference or close to it will totally be an annual top 15 team.
