Soo looking through those final stats Cambria Heights doesn't keep track of assists and only does solo tackles. Tyler Crawford had 121 solo tackles in 10 games. Since they didn't count the assists, he gets ripped off for awards? Its hard to say Makin led the area when this kid from an awful defense gets 121 solos.

I have seen Cambria Heights play this year. I don't know if the whole team had 121 tackles this year. It's not a tackle when the other team scores.

Obviously there was more than that many made but I guess he made most of them then.

Now that the Vescovi/Simon argument has died down, what's with the CO-COACH of the Year stuff? Both Bailey from FH and Sponsky from BC went to the state semi-finals in football. However, ONE beat the OTHER in head-to-head competition during the year. Wouldn't you say, then, that ONE coach out-coached the other????? Wouldn't that serve as the tie-breaker? It would be different if the coaches hadn't faced each other during the year, right? I mean if it was United who went to the semi-finals instead of BC, there would be NO way of comparing them. But when one coach beats the other head-to-head (when the main consideration is how far each goes in interdistricts), one has exibited a little more superiority over the other, right? The Tribune, in a feel good move, took the easy way out by declaring 2 coaches as coach of the year.

Great point. While we are on the topic, one coach didn't even receive co-coach accolades, but beat the gentleman who you just mentioned and also won the D6 crown. I believe this is a significant oversight by the tribune.

However, the main criterium for the award has been who goes deeper into the playoffs. Penna was ousted long before Sponsky and Bailey, so he eliminated himself. Next.

Tackles are an arbitrary statistic at this level. Kind of like stolen bases in baseball, and assists in basektball. Oftentimes there are young kids keeping the stats and they just don't know any better. Even though the numbers may not be accurate, they are not worth getting that worked up about.
