This is a serious question. Let's not use it to COMPARE Pitt and Penn State. The attendance at Beaver Stadium on Saturday was 96,461. Beaver Stadium holds 106,572. That means there were over 10,000 empty seats for the season/home opener. Reason????

1) Indiana State

2) STEP program

3) i feel 1/2 the fans still love the Joepa show. 1/2 the fans are sick of it and tired of the same old stuff year in and year out

On a related note, I was shocked it wasnt a sell out to see the high octane offense at Pitt. 48000 seats sold.

I was happy with the crowd at Pitt. Being unranked doesn't sell tickets in Pittsburgh. 2003 with Fitzgerald and all that hype was the only Pitt team I could recall actually putting 55,000+ in the seats for MAC teams. If he puts up 28 points a half on a consistent basis, more butts in the seats. The most encouraging sign was the student section being filled from the first row lower level, and the top row of the upper deck. The players and students have bought into Graham, not sure if the rest of the fanbase is sold. I do not think he is 100% genuine, and everything is about him. Camera is always on him, and he always talks a big game, kinda like he's campaigning for a bigger job than Pitt.

6PM on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend might be a tough sale, but who knows. I was happy with the 48,000 for Buffalo. About the 10,000 empty seats at Beaver Stadium: wonder how many were NO-SHOWS for seats actually sold? Nittanywhiteout.com seemed to have a different take. They came up with the 96,461 fans "braved the heat". And at one point said the fans "risked heat stroke". Really? Blaming it on the elements? Down south, this is typical weather for a game this time of year.

I was sweating bullets during my tailgate for the Pitt game. I guess I braved 100 degree weather, didn't know I was doing a noble task by watching the Panthers.

It seems like everyone wants Bolden to work out... I'm afraid that's the only reason McGloin isn't. I'm sick of hearing how many stars a kid was in HS... When I watch McGloin he has something that Bolden doesn't have. He plays with confidence, hits his spots better, and overall I think the offense looks smoother with him at the reigns. I hate two quarterback systems.

i wouldn't call the heat a good excuse for not being at a game, but i certainly wouldn't think "6pm on a labor day weekend" as a good excuse either. That should be more of a reason not less of a reason to go.

I'm just shocked that Pitt with a new coach and attitude wouldn't sell out or come close to selling out it's first game. I thought "HIGH OCTANE" would sell tickets, but I also thought HIGH OCTANE meant scoring more than 7 points in the first half against buffalo.

My guess is that Beaver Stadium is sold out this weekend, but I would no longer think the games against schools such as past Saturday will be.

Well as the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day" I do believe the High octane will be a factor down the line and in the second half they scored 28 points with like 6 minutes of possession. It definitely can be a quick strike offense, and I think Pitt has some good personnel to run this offense. Graham is a beast and this should be his last year at Pitt, I liked the transfer from Wisconsin,Zach Brown, He's a more physical back and can score on the goal line. The Illinois transfer at Tight End, Hubie Graham (everyone is Graham on this team) is also a solid pass catcher and I was pleased to see the Tight End involved. Shanahan and Street are tall and athletic receivers, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can Pitt take Cameron Saddler out of the starting lineup, He is suck and may be one of Pitt's most overrated recruits of the Wannstedt era, maybe only behind Pitt's new color analyst, Pat Bostick. Sunseri will be fine, the crowd was ALL over him after one game? He missed some throws, but he didn't throw interceptions and spread the ball around. And on top of everything, Pitt's backup is a walk on with no offers that is like 5 foot 10. Give the kid a break, he's almost getting Bill Stull criticism.

Hey, its week one and the board is back to itself:

-Moldo is talking attendance and other things of zero to no relevance

-Kirk is hating his life as a Penn State fan and acting like he knows more than Joe

-Deliverence makes us realize that there are teams outside of PSU and Pitt

-The whole board is acting like Joe is clueless yet he is probably starting another 8-10 win campaign

I like what Penn State is doing this year. I think they are gonna be great. GO STATE BEAT BAMA
