If Coach Franco does leave Tyrone for Altoona, would Craig Sponsky be a good fit for Tyrone? Or if Franco stays, Sponsky at Altoona? Thoughts? By the looks of things Sponsky wants out of Bishop Carroll.

Hope Sponsky doesn't need a job....a full time one that is.

From what i've heard, he is done at BC. If he wanted the Altoona job he could of had it a year ago.

As for Sponsky at Tyrone, I don't think so, maybe at Altoona, but not if Frano goes. If anything one of Tyrone's Assistants that knows the system and maybe wanting the opportunity to be a head coach themselves would be a good fit. I mean the system in Tyrone isn't broken (offensive/defensive) so if you have the opportunity to keep it the same if there is a coaching change why not do it. Besides that point I do believe the football players would be less receptive to an outside coach than an internal staff hire, but that is just my opinion.

I don't understand the comment the Sponsky could've had the Altoona job a year ago? Also Sponsky is on leave from BC and hasn't been back, but who knows if there isn't any jobs out there he might have to go back. I don't see him taking a trip to Tyrone everyday, what happened to all the FH talk and Bailey leaving.

How was the Tyrone program before Coach Franco got there?

In shambles. I agree that if Franco goes, they need to keep the hire internal for the sake of the program. Personally, Darren Elvey has looked like the coach in waiting for a long time. There are a lot of people on staff or former members of the staff that could very well pick up where Franco would leave off and I can see most of if not all of the staff sticking around if this were the case.kmr wrote:How was the Tyrone program before Coach Franco got there?

FYI, the "current" Altoona coach is Palfey, who was an assistant under Franco at Tyrone. I am assuming that Palfey is officially out.

Palfey, as well as Franco, are 2 of 5 internal applicants for the job. Technically, Palfey's still the head coach until they officially announce otherwise.
