The result from a HWT match shows as "F 8:11 UTB" ... I think that means that the guy won by "Fall after 8 minutes and 11 seconds of wrestling, during the Ultimate Tie Breaker period" ... but it's not obvious what that means???

After 3 2-minute periods, then what happens? Is it 2 1-minute overtime periods?

Then the UTB period ... OK ... I think I see what's happened ... the UTB period is a coin-flip to determine who starts on top ... and that guy won by pinning the guy who started down ... ah ... I guess I was stuck thinking that the only option was a ride-out ... but this makes sense now ... you've got him down, just pin him for the win :-)

a few 'upsets' in the first round. weston from tyrone had a nice win. fetchet from south fayette. krupa wins a big one. dodson lost a tough one. check out the ne region guys from 106...all 3 went 2 and out... lots of action going on, i wish i was there, but thank you for posting the link for the live audio, coach!

Not quite. In any OT period, if a wrestler is taken to his back the wrestler doing that is given the opportuntity to pin him. In the UTB period, the person that scores first is given the choice of top or bottom.

So it goes like this in OT:
1st OT Per --> 1 minute Sudden Victory from neutral (first point scored wins, which would either be a takedown or penalty point). I do believe that if there were 2 injury times by 1 wrestler, the other wrestler is given choice of top, bottom, neutral, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
If match still tied, there will be at least 2 more, 30 second periods
2nd OT --> coin flip to determine first choice
3rd OT --> other wrestler has choice
If match still tied, it goes to the Ultimate tiebreaker (30 seconds)
4th OT--> first wrestler to score a point gets choice. If match is 0-0, then a coin flip.

I think I got that right......

The kid won in the last overtime period where you either 'ride to win', or 'get out to win'. Seems this kid had top, and pinned the other kid in 11sec in this final period. Typically you only look to ride that last period, but he must have caught the other boy in a bad position.
