Absolutely.... ridiculous to think otherwise.

But AAAA schools rarely have two way players. The QB at one school could be a pretty good receiver or Safety at the one big school.

I haven't heard many AAAA schools thinking of splitting up to give more kids a chance at playing sports...

Ah, platoon this!!! Don't you guys see what a deterrent consolidation is to the average high school kid playing sports? Right now the 5 schools we've been talking about have about 200-250 players on their football rosters in grades 10-12. If they would all consolidate, you'd have somewhere between 60-75 players on a team. What happens to the rest of the kids who used to play. Someone had a real brainstorm about adding more sports to the schools assortment. Like what??? Bowling? Field hockey? Curling? And don't you think all the other sports that already exist wouldn't be crowded too? You'd be turning away soccer kids, golf kids, cross country kids. All consolidation would do is PREVENT kids from playing sports. Consolidation might be good for the local fans, but not good for the kids who ARE in school. Let's not think of ourselves, but the kids who want to play.

I'm not so sure CV will be able to safely field a football team as early as next year. With just five juniors and four sophomores and few players even close to 200 lbs it may be time to start looking into co-opting with another school for football.

Maybe there should be a rule like little league that every kid should have to play!!! Would that make you happy?

Wouldn't it be great if all public education funding were cut and outlawed? Then all schools would be private and the only kids playing sports would be those able to pay for themselves. Talk about competition!

I've said it before on here check the archives...these smaller A schools should petition the PIAA to field 8 man football league for the really small schools.

Ferndale has 8TH GRADERS playing Varsity Football. That alone should suggest they should not have a Varsity 11 man team.

Rockwood has 18 players, they went to a 7 vs. 7 with 6 guys.

I applaud the kids for playing and gearing up to play undermanned. But it isn't fair.

Crimson i agree with you 100%, It isn't fair!! Now please explain the difference between CV, Ferndale, Rockwood having to play undermaned against a "A" school in the normal or high end enrollment level and a average size "A" school playing a private school with boys on the roster from 4 counties. NOT HATING!, just asking a question.
