I think the money should be spent solely in PA. There's no question this is Corbett trying to gain voters appreciation, but at the same time I DO think the NCAA overstepped itself and doesn't really have the power to punish ANYBODY.

To be honest, I think the sanctions were going to be reduced eventually regardless of this lawsuit. And, they should be. I'd be saying the same thing had this all happened at Pitt.

As for O'Brien leaving... Moldy is right, the time is now. But let's keep something in mind here... Just because a franchise says "we are interested in Bill O'Brien" doesn't mean Bill O'Brien is interested in them. He turned down Jacksonville because of Gabbert. If the guy leaves, which he very well may for all I know, hen supposedly wants the right fit... a QB who can win. The guy won in NE because he had Brady to work with.

The NCAA absolutely has the right to punish Universities when Rules are broken that meet their guidelines. SMU PAID players to play at their school which is a direct violation of NCAA rules and why the NCAA is in place. The Sandusky Scandal was a criminal matter and was not a direct violation of NCAA rules. The NCAA stepped outside their jurisdiction in this case. If they can prove their case, more power to them. I think they know they can't and will settle out of court. Do you want the NCAA to start punishing every University where a Criminal matter happens? Every school in America would be on Sanctions.

Regardless of whether this is all politics and Corbett is a sleazeball who is pretty crafty, the money should be kept in-state, totally. Even if the purpose of the lawsuit is bogus, I still agree with that, and agree the sanctions were too harsh. If that gets lessened, good. I don't think Corbett wins the election either way.

Kirk, my SMU statement was more to the harshness of the sanctions. I don't think anyone deserves the collegiate death penalty. You have to give other people a chance to remedy the situation once the "criminals" are out of there.
