Should heritage schools loom to join another conference? Like pm in westpac, homer in wpial, lv in lhac?

minus LV, the Heritage and Westpac are almost identical. You could mix and match these schools together pending locations. I like LV in the LHAC. They are just as close to the Johnstown area as Patton and Bedford

United, Saltsburg and Northern Cambria are not really smaller schools.
The average distance and time from the nine existing Heritage schools to Boalsburg is 98 miles and 1:42 one direction based on Bing maps. I'm not sure any of the schools are interested in traveling that far especially if St. Joes joins the Heritage for all sports, assuming they have or plan to have additional sports.

I don't think the Heritage Conference would be interested in adding Chestnut Ridge or St. Joseph's to the conference itself, but just utilize them to get through the next two year cycle for football only. As you point out, travel times/costs would make joining the Heritage unattractive to both CR and SJCA. I think the ICC is a better fit for the both of them, but I doubt the AD at B-A who has considerable pull on the ICC committee would allow that to happen.

I know that LV made a serious attempt in 2011 to get back into the LHAC, but I never heard any outcome. I'm guessing the LHAC members either didn't want their basketball teams going over the mountain in the winter or that they wanted to keep an even number of teams for scheduling purposes.

It would be nice to see Bedford and CR in the same conference again.

Don't forget LV and CR petitioned the LHAC to join a couple years ago. LV dropped out right before the vote and really screwed Ridge. It was pretty much a done deal that the LHAC was going to admit them. I doubt they would even give LV another look. LV is happy staying where they are. They won't leave unless the Heritage reorganizes and doesn't invite them much like when the appalachian dissolved and BC had to join the LHAC.

I couldn't agree with coach Carter more, I doubt the LHAC would consider LV in the near future when it looked like a done deal just two years ago. The programs at Liggy were pretty split on rather or not to join the LHAC. Liggy is also feels that they will drop down to class A in football in 4 to 6 years. I question if it would happen since they would have to lose so many more students than most schools but when you have been documented as having one of the highest percentage students decline in western Pa (and a few other things happen politically) it probally would happen.

The Ligonier school board and administration from what i remember was all for the move to the LHAC and the coaches didn't want to move.

I did see somewhere that St. Joe's has a few openings, the trip to Boalsburg wouldn't be that bad. United is replacing Guilfoyle with Union Rimersburg next season that has to be close to an hour and a half trip. I would think since the Ferndale game was to be a home game for the Lions that they would try to replace it with another home game if possible.
