Re: Week 8 in the ICC
I'm not putting words in anyones mouth. And I like people supporting their team. But I'm just bring some people back down to reality. thepalerider and captainmancave both picked NB and dragonfootball2001 saying they are a perenial power and I strongly disagree with all 3 of them, just proving my point. B-A has seen this same story time and time again. And it's ALWAYS had the same result...a B-A win.
And on another note, I have no problem with D5 but I am sick and tired of people on here running their mouths saying D5 is better than D6...there is NO comparison. NONE AT ALL. 9 teams in D5 vs. 23 teams in D6??? How is that even close??? How hard is it to win districts in a 4-6 team playoff??? When teams with losing records make playoffs??? C'mon!!!
And best player Friday night will be in blue/yellow wearing #34...his names Casey Gray. Im sure by 4th qtr you will have heard his name A LOT

Re: Week 8 in the ICC
D5's quality for the number of teams it has is very good. D6 is more of a mediocre district in my opinion BUT they benefit from the number of teams so there is a different team to pop up here and there that is good.
For a decade now there are at least 6-8 teams in District 6 who win 2-4 games on average.
NBC plays the same schedule as Bellwood except Bellwood plays Tyrone and Richland. NBC plays an AAA school week 10 for the second year in a row. They haven't been a good AAA team but the school is much bigger.
Break down NBC's schedule. Do you want them in the LHAC? Where do you want them?
They play the ICC schedule. This schedule includes mainly District 6 teams THAT THEY BEAT!
In reality, NBC plays 2 District 5 schools! Tussey Mountain and Everett.
The district 6 teams they play include Bellwood, Claysburg, Williamsburg, Glendale, and West Branch. They play two D6AA teams in Mount Union and Southern Huntingdon. Then they play the AAA team. .
So in reality, NB has done pretty well vs District 6 teams but they've struggled in the District 5 Semis and Finals of the playoffs. Are they a top 2 District 5/6 team? No. Have they been a year to year contender that is pretty good for its size? You bet.
Bellwood beats everyone in class A around here almost every year. It is easy to pick them tomorrow night.

Re: Week 8 in the ICC
Yes Bellwood beat mount union by 2 TDs but if you were at that game it really could of gone either way. The game was one possession the whole way to the fourth quarter where Bellwood broke a long run for there final score. With that said Bellwood has a great team and I believe they will beat Northern Bedford. Probably by two touchdowns due to NBC rush defense.QuoteTheRaven wrote:Look at who NBC plays on a regular basis??? Yea they are a cinderella. If NBC had to play/or contend with in playoffs with teams like Tyrone, Portage, Richland, BC, BM, and PM they would be lose all those games. NBC lost to Mount Union and BA beat MU by 2 TDs. NBC beats up on your Claysburgs and Williamsburgs of Central PA. NBC beat Tussey Mountain who is putting up HUGE numbers this year but I'm still not totally sold. Guess we will see when the smoke clears tomorow night...
Re: Week 8 in the ICC
I was at the Bellwood mt. Union game and I believe Casey grey was held to just 56 yards. Blake Over did very well against the same Trojan defense I think over is the better overall of the two. Grey will run all over the NBC defense I mean what team didn't this season.QuoteTheRaven wrote:I'm not putting words in anyones mouth. And I like people supporting their team. Re: Week 8 in the ICC
I just hope this doesn't get into a D5/D6 battle. this has nothing to do with districts. Just that Bellwood hasn't been beaten by many teams the past 5 years. Richland, BM, PM, and Tyrone in the area. And BM Richland tyrone have or is going to beat them multiple times. Any team who beats them knows its a HUGE accomplishment. If NBC beats Bellwood tomorrow it will be a bigger upset than PM in my opinion. Why? Because 1. no danny ferens. 2. Bellwood has homefield advantage. 3. Bellwood has't lost an ICC game for a long time.
Re: Week 8 in the ICC
Raven, Gray will have the best individual performance Friday night, in part because he is a great player, and also because NB doesn't have a very good defense right now. Over won't be able to match Gray's performance tomorrow and I'm 100 percent sure we'll here Gray's name a lot, but Over will be the best player on the field.
Also, you say this happens every year. BA and NB have played ONE time since the 80's, which was last year. You can't say it happens every year when it had only happened once. Extrememly small sample size.
Bellwood is a great D6 team and obviously untouchable in the ICC. Why can't you just admit that NB is a solid A program instead of bashing them?

Eaglecree - I would like to comment further on your analogy of using MU as a focal point for both teams and this is one reason why I believe NB has a Legitimate shot of winning this game. NB put up 35pts against MU and could have been close 50pts if it wasn't for a few ( int's )
BA struggled to get 20pts and the one td was a fluke because of two MU DB's tripped each other.
BA is good at stopping the run, but has not been tested on there pass defense.
NB has been tested at stopping the run and struggles, but has been getting better.
BA will score and NB will score,
and by far "over" is the better player of those two mentioned'
Just to be clear, I like BA and pull for them in the d6 play-offs every year and have the up-most respect for them
I think NB wins in a shoot out...

Raven,
Talk about NBC beating up on schools of the blind, isnt Bellwood in the same conference? Thats right the ICC they basically play the same schedule. They play Tyrone I will give you that and I bet if it wasnt such a money maker they would stop playing it because they win 1 in every 10 years.

No I'm not talking about playing NBC "ONCE" I'm talking about every year there's this team that's UNDEFEATED or on a roll and is going to beat Bellwood-Anits, I hear it EVERY YEAR...04 Juniata Valley, 05 Juniata Valley, 06 Glendale, 06 Portage, 06 Southern Huntingdon, 07 Purchase Line, 10 Portage, 12 Bishop Guilfoyle, 13 Mount Union...the list goes on and on...I hear it every year. Some school that is having a great season, plays B-A with high hopes and says "Oh this is the year, you wait and see! BLA BLA BLA!". Heck I work a lady from NB who was running her mouth last year about this game and has made some comments this year about tonights game. All I am saying is I have heard this before time and time again. A team that's having a good year and think's they are better than they really are, or atleast some of their fans do.
And as far as Gray being better and being showcased because of NB's weak run defense??? Uh footballs a team sport, so in order to be better than your opponent you usually have to play a complete sound game of football which is...GOOD OFFENSE...GOOD DEFENSE...and....GOOD SPECIAL TEAMS. Duh! And no I am not bashing NB, but they are in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM a perinial power. Not even close. Sorry to break it to you. Perenial Powers are teams like Bellwood-Antis, Tyrone, Aliquippa, Clairiton, Southern Columbia, Steelton-Highspire, Dunmore, Clearfield, Bishop McCort, and Bishop Carroll that win district championships and be competitive in state playoffs. NB has had a good couple of years, I will give you that BUT talk to me when they have 4 or 5 District Championships in a 10-15 year period. Not just 1 or 2 good seasons...

Yea Tyrone does usually beat BA. I have no shame in that. BA has won 5 times against Tyrone since 2000. But losing to Tyrone who is a state powerhouse year in year out and is A LOT easier to accept than losing to Mount Union...just sayin
