I'm taking this under the assumption that you have coached before. If you have been a coach, what kind of philosophy do you have if "talking smack" is acceptable? I'm wondering this because you say that kids will be kids and they all talk smack. I can tell you for a fact that not all kids are this way, which is why I'm wondering how much coaching you've actually done. How much respect do you honestly expect to achieve as a coach for a team of kids that do more talking than playing? And also, you're telling me that, as a coach, you have taught a kid a valuable lesson about life and then on a previous post in a PUBLIC forum you said he played like a girl?
How much fun would it really be as a highschool athlete to see your name on a website and people degrading you? This site is not intended for that, it never has and will never be. The moderator team has been cracking down hard lately because of the senseless posts that people are making. Maybe it's because people are bored or it's the middle of winter and there's nothing else to do, but whatever it is, either they stop or are banned.i mean if you had chance to get on the computer and see what is going on during the school day..it would sure more enteretaining than listening to a chemistry teach teach...
How do we know that? How does anyone know that? Posts are perceived according to how they are written. There's no emotion or sarcasm when a post is made so how it's written is how it's taken. I'm simply going to refer you to the NEWS AND NOTES thread by Coach and you can read it for yourself.my posts were not in anyway to intended to harm anyone...

Yes, I have coached and have received compliments from many coaches on returning discipline to a team that had not had any for a while....but you have taken some of my comments out of context....go back to the days when you were in high school wouldn't you like to see what is being said about your team today...didn't you ever sit in Chemistry class and think about the big game...bleachercaoches is about that it gives student athletes the chance to see what is going on in their world...Academics was always the number one priority of the teams that i have coached...i seen us set the star of the team because of grades or for disciplinary reasons... i never once said that smack was acceptable i said it happens all the time....i had the privilege of playing both Joe and AJ Nastasi and both of them never shut their mouths the nights we played them...maybe it was because they were kicking the guts out of us..but that is not here nor there...the great Juniata Valley teams all talked smack through the years...man was that a but whoopin'....i am not saying it is acceptable..but it happens...as far as the message board...i would say most of it is for good natured fun...and has anybody gotten hurt...or suffered severe mental anquish over this...most likely not...you are exactly right about how do we know if it is meant to be harmful towards anybody...but i can assure you one thing that anybody that i have posted to or about can figure out who i am or private message me and i would tell them...except for Barnett and i just like jerking his chain around...if he would think hard enough he could figure it out...so in closing if i have offended you or anyone else i am sorry..i just think that we have difference in opinion....and i guess that happens in the real world..

I'm still reading and rereading and trying to make sense of what you said. You say that I've taken stuff out of context. What exactly did I take out of context? I quoted you twice and if that's what you are referring too I'm not sure I understand how that's out of context.
I absolutely agree with you though that this site does provide great feedback for athletes as far as how other teams are doing and they get some first hand information from the opposing players. But at the same time you contradict yourself.
Now referring to trash talking. You referred to the Nastasi's and how they liked to talk. They liked to talk during the game, not on a message board. Everyone talks during a game, it's just part of the fun and I totally agree that it happens then. But trash talk on here isn't needed. If you want to do that, do it in a private message or IM the person, because then the moderators aren't liable for it and it makes our job a lot easier. And no, I doubt if there has been any fights or mental anguish, but that doesn't give anyone the right to assume that what gets said isn't taken personally. It's simple to avoid all that too, just don't post anything degrading !!

And then in the next sentence you write:....go back to the days when you were in high school wouldn't you like to see what is being said about your team today...didn't you ever sit in Chemistry class and think about the big game...
Am I the only one that sees that as being contradictory? First you say that it would be great to sit in class and wonder about other teams. Then you say that academics are the number one priority...it doesn't make sense....Academics was always the number one priority of the teams that i have coached...i seen us set the star of the team because of grades or for disciplinary reasons...

Roadie,
I really don't want to keep this message going any longer but I felt the need to mention that I really don't think Bdaddy23 crossed the line in his posts. I've read many threads that were much worse than those you mentioned. Afterall, this is a message board where people can post results about athletic games but they can also state their opinion on many different subjects. I agree that there is a line that people shouldn't cross but to expect 1500 people to gather on a message board and for all to agree or play nice is a little unrealistic in my opinion. As for the Nastasi boys, it's not possible to suggest what they would or would not have done when at the time there was no message board. Not that it matters, and I really don't want to cause any problems for myself because I enjoy the site, but I just think it was unfair how you singled him out. JMO.....
