Penn State losing all of their OL but one when BO'B left has nothing to do with BO'B leaving. He took none of them with him. And yes, by the time Franklin got to Vandy, those bad recruiting classes had ripend pretty nicely. Maybe the lesser recruits do better than expected, and top recruits don't pan out like they are supposed to. Are we seeing that in Hackenberg? Everyone says in ain't a jinx, so it must be talent or poor coaching.

Franklin and the whole staff will be fine. You can't completely judge a staff on one year, especially dealing with a bunch of first and second year players and no depth. We'll see in a few years how good of a coach he is. Like I said before, they just need to get through this season.

Look I'm not questioning Franklin in terms of being the right guy. 99% of the things he has done at PSU have exceeded expectations. On gameday, I feel as though he has struggled with some game management in close games. The game Saturday wasn't the typical 4th and 1. It was 4th and 1 foot, with one of the worst punters in college football, punting into a 30+ mph wind, and a defense that struggled to get stops for the 2nd half of the game. I would have went for it and been fine with the decision if they didn't get it.

People want to completely pin the struggles of the offense on Hack but we seen the numbers he produced as an 18 year old True Freshman. So he isn't as bad as he is playing this year. Most of the blame on his performance falls on his shoulders but the lack of protection, non-existent running game, and horrendous route design haven't helped. I personally think he is best when he finds a rhythm. He threw 30+ times a lot of games last year and early this year. Giving him 15 throws and 10 of them being 3rd and 8+ isn't a recipe for success for a struggling QB. Making a pocket passer rollout all season develops bad mechanics. I don't know why he doesn't realize that he doesn't have to throw a 95 mph fastball on every throw.

Im not sure if you've been up to a game this year or if your going next week but the 2 things that really stick out to the eye in live action compared to last year is the awful route design (multiple receivers running to the same spot, no options over the middle of the field, and no check downs. The other is how bad these punters really are. I've seen several high school punters that were better this year.
