If you are going back to 1988 then I think the 1989 Bedford team also has to be considered. The team went 11-1 in 1988 and returned most of the players. Their only loss that year was to #3 state ranked Bellwood 28-22. Bedford was ranked #4.

In 1989 they went undefeated at 11-0. Two 1,000 yard rushers in Greg Washington and Keith Williams. Several players went on to play in college. The team however did not qualify for the playoffs. The state only took 4 teams and it was a points based system. They finished the season ranked #2.

Technically I don't think they were in the LHAC for those years. There were a few years between the old Mountain Conference disbanding and the creation of the LHAC that Bedford played as an independent.

SHC is Southern Huntingdon County (not sure it is the same today)

they had a juggernaut during the days of Nypaver as head coach. At one point they had the states longest win streak (20+ games over three seasons), finished ranked second in the state in 1980, and high state rankings many other years around that time also. Also back then they only had two classes AA and AAA.

Huntingdon also had some very good teams around the same time, but the conservative predictors of that time often thought SH was the better team by far.

SHC- an LHAC team? Please read the thread title. Unless you want to start your own thread, like greatest of all time D5/6. That would expand the parameters. Then I would also include the '76 Rangers. I think the year is right. Allowed -6- points all year in a 9 game schedule, and won the Mtn. Conference that year.

1976 would be overstepping the guidelines as well. But yeah, I was thinking specifically LHAC for this topic. Obviously there have tons of good teams through the years in the area beyond this league.
