Re: Hollidaysburg Basketball Investigation
I think there's a difference between "on the roster" and "dressing for varsity". Especially at bigger schools where you may have 20-25 kids go out for basketball. All 20-25 kids have to pass a physical, be cleared by the trainer, and meet eligibility requirements. Now maybe only 15 or 16 of those kids "dress for varsity". Have you ever seen a score book? There isn't enough room to enter 25 players. That doesn't mean the other 5-10 kids aren't "on the roster". They probably play the JV game, then get a shower and watch the varsity game from behind the bench "as a part of the team". Not sure how that means they aren't "on the roster"

"Friend" works for PIAA. I call BS right there. PIAA has a handful of employees. Later OP says he called the PIAA, but why not just ask your "friend?" Garbage.

Called to see whether it was a serious thing or if it was just something they thought wasn't of any true value and just threw it to the side. Sorry that you don't believe me that I have a fried that works for PIAA. It's not that prestigious of a workplace that it's impossible for me to know somebody there. I guess all I can say here is call for yourself and see what they tell you. And regarding the rosters submitted at the beginning of the year, that's just what I was told by a former coach from the district, and before you try and suggest I'm lying about knowing a former coach from this district, I'm pretty sure all schools have to submit some form of roster because if not then there would be no limitations for throwing kids on and off the team, especially in the bigger cities like Pittsburgh, Philly, and Erie. Once again, I could be wrong because I do not know about roster submissions first hand, just listening to others.Birda wrote:"Friend" works for PIAA. I call BS right there. This is a big issue for what reason?

Re: Hollidaysburg Basketball Investigation
Not really too big of an issue, especially if there aren't official rosters that are submitted to PIAA. When I first posted the question I didn't know much about the situation but I've gathered some information and it seems as if there is no rule against switching out kids as needed. Plus, Hollidaysburg's season ended at the hands of Highlands, so nothing could even be done there regarding a punishment (if it was even a violation at all) Everything seems to be an if at this point because it seems like nobody here knows for sure or is at PIAA this second to be able to tell if anything is going on but I don't expect anything to come from this.Hoopfan wrote:This is a big issue for what reason?

Re: Hollidaysburg Basketball Investigation
So let me get this right......D6SportsNetworks, you started this topic to stir up controversy. You called the PIAA like any 10 year old tattletale would. You knew the #'s of the 4 players that were "out of town". How do you know they weren't sick or injured? You knew they were "out of town". You knew the two #'s that the 2 JV players that moved up wore. You knew they had different uniforms for varsity and JV. You knew how many varsity uniforms they had. Sounds like you are a little more connected to this issue than the rest of us. So..........what's your angle? Disgruntled player upset over playing time? Angry parent with an ax to grind? Former or local coach who was overlooked when Coach Lear got the job? I'm guessing one of those hits close to home. Congrats to Hollidaysburg Coaches and Players on an outstanding season.

Re: Hollidaysburg Basketball Investigation
1- there is NO official roster sent to the PIAA at the beginning of the season in any sport.
2- only official team document send to PIAA or the PIAA cares about it the Intitial Eligibility list that must be submitted by first competition.
3- the scoresheet was accurate, names and number were accurate for each game, PA announcer said correct names entering the game, kids on scoresheet and on bench were accurate.
4- radio announcer said another name because he was using an online roster and had no idea who was on the scoresheet (but I'm guessing mommy was happy to hear her sons name even though he was injured and unable to dress.

Thank you for clarifying GoldenTigers... I didn't know they had an injured kid. Was he of any importance or was he a bench player?

That's what I'm wondering????
Re: Hollidaysburg Basketball Investigation
Contrary to popular belief, there are other commitments that kids have. I believe Hollidaysburg music department was at Disney last week.
