I know. Can you believe it? How sad is that? Sandy Barbour thinks he's great. Guess their expectations for basketball just aren't high. I hear the BJC is planning to install a WON'T CALL window.

Pitt is not disappointed in their hire either. It's the fan base that's disappointed. I'm not sure how many of them has hired a basketball coach before but apparently they all know how to go about it? I say give this guy a chance.
Personally I'm ready for a change in Pitt basketball. Is Stallings the right guy? Maybe not, or he might recruit great players to Pitt and actually coach them up, which did not happen before.
I'll take the wait and see approach, not jump off the deep end as some of the Twitter 140 character experts.

What's funny is certain Pitt fans are the only people that thing Chambers is a bad coach. Watch a national telecast and they rave about Chambers. Nobody can honestly say they predicted 7 conference wins with the roster that was coming back this season. That poor record over the last 4 years has very little to do with coaching and more to do with roster talent vs other B1G schools. Last 2 recruiting classes have been very good and the next 2-3 years will provide a much better reflection of the coaching job being done in State College.

Well in fairness, which national broadcast says a coach is bad ever?

Ya. The Big Ten Network just RAVES about Chambers. How his team in on the right track, while losing by 20 to Nebraska. Most TV announcers try to make a losing coach look good. What else are they going to say during a 2 hour TV game. You can't tell me that PSU is thrilled with their hire. They took a guy who had 42 total wins as a head coach, and crossed their fingers that he was their man. Meanwhile, Stallings has 455 wins as a college coach. That's a lot of coaching experience. Two years from now he may reach the 500 mark. Who knows? And as far as PSU winning 7 conference games this past season, let's face it, this might have been the worst year for the Big Ten Conference in MANY years. This year, PSU was in the right place at the right time.

Stalling may do a great job and I hope he does. Just saying the Vandy community was lining up to pack his bags. Nobody at PSU, ESPN, B1G Network would say that Chambers has underachieved considering the roster. 2 years from now those expectations will be different but for now nobody is down on the job Chmabers has done.
