Freddy C says...". I think it stinks that for the girls on a solid team don't get voted on because they don't have high scoring averages. "

Hopefully, with the head coaches voting, this wouldn't happen...I would like to think the coaches know better than to get caught up in the "stat game"...besides, they played against everybody and I would like to think that they ask themselves..."Would I rather have Player A who is a good player on a great team that only scores 8/game but rebounds, assists, def is also good or Player B who scores 20/game for Cellar Dwellar High School"? when they cast their vote.

It's tough because there are a lot of talented girls, but my picks would be:

Kristi Barton:NB
Brittani Garber:TM
Kayla Knepper:FR
Katie Dovey:FM
Amber Jo Donaldson:TM
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

I appreciate the quote analyzing but...my main point here is ....
Basketball ASIDE...... I have only been exposed to the SHL for about 4 years but......my opinion is the SHL all star teams usually have a fulton county "feel" to them. In all sports. Just an opinion here.

Freddy,

You obviously have no clue what criteria should be used to evaluate league all stars. I agree that it's tough to not select at least one player off the league champions, but this is all star voting not team voting. Besides, Amber jo will probably make it. In my opinion, all stars should be selected based on what they have accomplished throughout the season. In looking at Dovey, I believe not selecting her to the all star team based on what she has accomplised so far would be a tragedy. She not only puts up big numbers against the weaker teams, but she does it consistently against the best teams in the league. Average players just don't do that. She rises to the occasion no matter who she is playing. When teams scout FM, their plan is to stop Dovey. That alone is respect. She works hard every night on the court and I'm sure any coach in the league would love to have her on their team. Just ask them!

I guarantee you Freddy has more of a clue than you do.

What he was saying was put her on a team surrounded by good players and see how many points she scores.

I apprepriate your input but I really don't need you to interpret for me what Freddy may be saying. Place her on any team in the SHL and her points/rebounds may change slightly but she would still be one of the top 6 in the league. In addition, I have no respect for someone who's complaining about a fulton county "feel". The best players get selected by the COACHES not the players.

LetsPlay,
Sorry if you took that as an insult on Dovey. It was what some people call an example. I think Dovey is an excellent player.

I also appreciate the no clue and no respect comment. I guess I should expect that. I am a little slow.

My only point is that total scoring should not be the main criteria for an all star selection. It was no way an insult on any one person.

Ridge had a good girls team this season. I did not see anyone mention them in consideration. NBC's Barton has to be considered as I think she scored around 15 pts game. Should be interesting to see how the girls voting turns out. What did this young lady from FM average pts per game?? Was she a guard or post player??

Dovey is a post player. I think she's only a sophmore. She is a great player and if you look at page 1 of this topic you'll see I did pick her as first team. Not that my opinion means anything.

It should be no surprise that the SHL has a Fulton County feel to it. They take care of each other and sometimes lose sight of objectivity.
