PHills won their first round playoff game big over the Pitts City's #1 AAAA team by 21. Then, PH played well for a good bit of the game against Cville, but got sloppy and ended up only winning by 1. Then, PH dominated Pitts CC by 11 Saturday, and controlled the entire 2nd half vs. State College.
That's about as close to rolling through teh playoffs as a SIX SEED from a DISTRICT could get. I repeat, PH WAS THE 6 SEED OUT OF THE WPIAL.
Penn Hills's guards are athletic as all get out. Sj=killed players? Maybe not, but speed and quickness kills, doesn't it? #3 Knight was the best pg I saw in the west this season. OI don't know who you think was a better pg...Norwood? Please, Knight dominated him twice scoring 22 and 20 points and limiting him to nothing. Now, tell me Shubik is better than Knight.
Ionadi (#20) is a VERY good player, scored like 12000 career points. Very tough, athletic kid.
Harvey inside is an absolute rebounding machine.
I do agree that PH's offense basically consists of a lot of standing around and dribble penetration and kicking the ball around for open shots or lanes where players can create. PH plays a very "urban" style of basketball...However, Penn Hills is A LOT better defensive team than they get credit for. They are quick to the ball and when they CHOOSE to defend and don't take plays off, they defend well. PH can be a sloppy team at times, but they are DARN GOOD when they put it all together.
Regardless of what you think, PHills can win a slowdown type game. They beat State 59-49 the 1st time the two teams played in a slower game. They played Shaler slow for 3 quarters and led 39-34 at the end of three. PH does pound it inside a bit more when forced to do so.
PHills is better than you think. A LOT better. Just ask Drew Frank.
