abpk...that 70% number is a bit skewed if you think about it. the team that gets homefield advantage is always the team that has the better regular season record. they are usually the better team. the favorite winning 70% of the time in the playoffs is not shocking.

despite my above statement, i buy into homefield being a huge advantage, especially for the steelers if they play the colts or pats. heinz field is a mud pit. their field surface is the poorest quality in the nfl as far as traction is concerned. wayne, harrison, and stokely are guys who rely on their footwork. through my prospective, the steelers losing in heinz field in the playoffs would be a huge shock.

I will never question your loyalty to the Steelers Ham. I will however question some of the Steeler fans today. I know after their week 1 win over Oakland the Steeler jerseys were tough to find but now they sneak by the Giants and everyone is the biggest Steeler fan in the world and wears their jerseys after the win.

i am all for homefield advantage...all i'm saying is that they interviewed some of the steelers on the radio (don't remember who) and they weren't sure if homefeild was a good thing or not

If they are worring about that and not worried about winning a game, they shouldnt be playing in the NFL, simple.

Once again, my whole point was don't get ahead of yourselves. I never said home field advantage was a bad thing. It is indeed an advantage, but no guarantee. And how do you know it's going to be snowy and windy during the playoffs? Here we are on Dec. 22nd and it's 58 degrees! How many games have the Steelers played so far in the snow? I know the Chargers played in the snow in Cleveland and won 21-0 (as compared with a Steelers win of 24-10). Seems as if those soft California boys did ok in the snow.

The stats about past history of home field advantage are certainly valid, but this isn't an ordinary year in the AFC. There are 5 teams with 10+ wins with 2 games still to play! It's a very tough and balanced at the top this year.

The Steelers will likely get home field advantage, but it's not a done deal by any stretch. They have the Ravens (a team that beat them 30-13 early in the year). Yes, I know Maddox played, but Maddox wasn't responsible for the 30 the Ravens put up. Then they finish with the Bills who are red hot and will likely NEED the win to make the playoffs.

The Steelers are sitting in a good spot right now, but IMO, it's way too early to be getting excited about seeing them in the Super Bowl.

They were playing Cleveland, enough said... Pittsburgh Central Catholic could beat Cleveland...

Steelers only beat Cleveland 24-10 at Cleveland.....San Diego beat them by more in the snow.

Good point, you're right, I don't even know why im arguing with you. The fact that the Chargers beat the Browns, a 3-11 team, by one more touchdown definately means that they are going to come into pittsburgh and beat the steelers.

It means the snow (if there is any) may not be as big of a factor as you think it will.
