LP, you should change your statement to say people in power are never going to be for less government control of your life. Its not about liberal and conservative its about power and control. The people who have it, whether liberal or conservative, don't give it up.

I think I understand your cookies in the cookie jar analogy, but knowing the way things work in this country you are going to add many hands into that cookie jar. Guaranteed a high percentage of those hands are going to be attached to arms of the government in terms of regulations and eventually the courts when disputes arise. There is too much money involved for the upper level politician to keep there hands off because control of the money is the ultimate power .

Just my opinion, but privitazing SS will not lead to less government.

One quick question on this matter....since the current SS recipients are being paid with contributions that taxpayers make today, how will the people who have already paid into SS get paid in the future?
