Our prison system is overcrowded and our probation system is overworked. Way too many perps slip through the cracks. I think we need to find alternative ways to punish vicitimless crimes.
I don't disagree with that statement.
Onstoot hurt someone in 1995. This person was both hurt physically and mentally. I wonder what they thought when Onstott was released from prison. I wonder what they think knowing what Onstott alledgely has done.
Exactly. Obviously this guy should never have been released.
I think Onstoot is going to face the death penalty. It is justifiable in this case.
Wow, I never thought I'd hear you say that!
When the strong hurt the weak, it is bad. I really have a problem with someone abusing children. I also have a problem with the crimes of sexual abuse.
Can we at least agree that at a minimum, child molesters and rapist should spend the rest of their lives in jail? No chances for a repeat offense.

I actually don't like rapists too well, and depending on the severity of the crime (like date rape versus beating a woman and raping her), perhaps life in prison would be warrented.

But I don't think that just because a person does something to a child means it should be a death penalty. What if the father of the child comes home drunk and beats his kid? What punishment would be suitable for him?

What frosts me about this is we have LAWS in place to take care of situational criminals like this, but then we have shyster lawyers that twist the letter of the law and a spineless or sympathetic judge that plea-bargains him to lesser sentences or sets them free.

Pale Rider, I totally agree with that. We should follow the letter of the law in sentencing criminals, and not go soft on them just because they cooperate or whatever. We should just give them bigger sentences if they don't cooperate and get convicted.

I am just in a disagreement with some folks on here about what some of those guidelines should be...

Why are you changing the subject? You can come up with a million hypotheticals.

We were talking about adults that molest children. The only suitable punishment for that crime is a needle. At a minimum, life in prison.

I'll ask the question again. How many PARENTS out there want a child molester released back into society? I doubt too many do.

A child molester, in many cases, doesn't cause irrepairable harm to the child. He's sick, yes, but does he cause long term lasting damage, probably not..

What about a drunk father that comes home and beats the crap out of his kid? Should he get the needle? What punishment does this crime warrent? Tell me, I would like to hear your views.

Wow. Just wow. I think it's amazing that a few of you actually believe that. Let me be clear here. I think it's sick what those priests did in Boston. Lock 'em up, just like anyone else. But if you really believe what you just said, why the outcry? Ask those adults who were molested how much damage that causes?

I'll get back to the other later.

Everyone is under constant surveillance and the hammer is already pulled back on the rifle the sniper is using to watch you. LP wants everyone dead who remotely disagrees with him.

flea...were you beat by a father that comes home drunk or something? listen...it's bad, yes, and there are laws to protect that child...however, those cases sometimes aren't brought up or anything like that and many times they go unnoticed, which is wrong, but it's just as wrong as a person molesting a child...they're both bad.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
