I think you have a good point about the small schools having the oppurtunity to qualify for the playoffs.
Obviously there could be some fine tuning done to either solution, just so the D6 committee keeps in mind what the point of the playoffs are.
Hoopsfan: I totally agree with you that BC can Attract players from other schools. That just boils down to kids want to be part of a successful program. Remember since enrollment is the deciding factor, talent, or number going out for football has no implecations on what level a team plays.

I don't think I like the removal of a points system as it doesn't reward teams for playing tougher schedules. A team like Bellwood plays some successful AA programs, and BC playes almost exclusively AA and AAA programs. So this allows the best and most deserving teams to make the playoffs in a given classification.
On the other hand, in any given year, there are teams that don't do so well, or that totally dominate. If Forest Hills plays BC and wins, they still only get 80 points, though Bishop Carroll, for all practical purposes, is just as good as, or better, than a AA team. Along the same lines, if Forest Hills plays Somerset (which often struggles to break even), they get 120 points, even though Somerset often struggles against AA competition. The points system rewards teams for playing bigger schools and hurts them for playing smaller schools, regardless of the quality of the opponent. It's true enough that in general, an average AA team (Ridge) will beat the average A team (Northern Bedford), but when one gets to the elite teams, it almost doesn't matter whether they are A (Bishop Carroll) or AAA (Greater Johnstown), as they play very competitive games against one another. So really, perhaps taking away the point system for classification doesn't matter quite as much as it is made out to. The teams are still being rewarded by getting 10 points for each of an opponents wins, and BC and BA will likely get more of those from their schedule than a team like Conemaugh Township.
