Your right Palerider....everyone is sick of it and it is so apparent every year with girls basketball playoffs...not that other sports aren't affected, but that has historically been the easiest to pick out. I can assure you that Cashman and Lombardi (PIAA exec's) wish something could be done (who doesn't) but hands are tied. They looked at a multiplier effect like Missouri does...thought it could be done "legally" but effects would be minimal and Private schools looking to gain an edge in classification would just reduce their attendees by 20-30 or whatever to stay in same classes. And I know, I know...other states have separate tourneys for Publics and Privates but other states don't have our legislature...it's a state to state thing.

mccort doesn't give scholarships.....all these athletes just decided to go there for the education...and i guess the school just forgot to mail them their bill for tuition...

Roadie,
How about this? Throw them out of the leagues they play in and without a schedule, they can't win. They will have to play games far from home, the kids will hate it and stay at thier home schools. I know it sounds crazy but does the state mandate that BC and BM play in the Laurel Highlands? I say not. Kick them out. It wouldn't be the first time BC was dismissed from league play, right? I appreciate your knowledge on this subject but Cashman can do something. If he made a big enough stink the problem would be taken care of...just my opinion.
As for girl's hoops, I can see it now. Conemaugh Valley will lose the State Championship to Bishop something or St. so and so....

GURU: I agree with your opinion on this. However, many hands are probably stuffing Cashman's pockets (with Kleenex, yeah.) Just like the government, when someone's in charge for so long, it's hard to get them out and institute reforms. Politics=sports=life, just go with the flow and don't rock the boat.

Everyone says that there is nothing that PIAA can do to correct this problem.... but there is... give catholic schools their own division in PIAA... what would separate them from A-AAAA would be the lack of district bounderies... any school that doesnt have set bounderies to go to the school should be considered Open Division... anyone can join from catholic schools, public schools, to private schools, they can have people play for them from Alaska if they want but they must take part in the Open Division from small catholics to large catholics to academic private schools to athletic private schools... this would make things even... and yes it would work because an "Open division" has been set up in the PIHL and teams like Somerset will go against teams like Char Valley and anyone could play for whatever school they want to, this would correct the problem

Oh really i love how we recruit?I mean come on is that the only real reason why we actually beat you?The recruiting rumor was made as an excuse of why the Richland's and the Westmont's of the world can feel ok about a loss????I mean are you actually serious?I go to Bishop McCort can you honestly name one student there that actually is recruited????........................well you can't i know most of the football and basketball players grades 9-12 personally and i can assure 100%they arent being recruited

I'm not saying that McCort recruits, Im simply saying that the players from McCort can be from as far as Erie or Philadelphia if people really wanted to go to McCort, they dont have bounderies to their school district and I know of many cases of players going to McCort just for athletic purposes, I wont name any but there are a ton in the past decade... not that they are being recruited they just want to be on a more prestigous team if thats how it is looked at... its not like McCort sends scouts to take potential or already accomplished players from other schools, if the players or the players parents want to send them to McCort that is fine but seeing that McCort can have anyone in the state come to their school and compete in PIAA there should be an open division

Actually i see what your saying but A basketball player that lived in Penn Hills went to Seton LaSalle. Although the nearest catholic school would either be Central or North Catholic. She was forced to leave so PIAA is starting to set some boundaries
