Welcome to America:
1. The YMCA youth basketball leagues now reset the scoreboard after every quarter. They do not tally the quarters at the game's conclusion. They also give kids 1 point for hitting the rim. Wouldn't want anyone to lose any self-esteem! Everyone goes home a winner.
2. A school administration recently told their teachers to give kids credit on tests for wrong answers if "they feel in their heart they are correct". So when little Billy comes up to your teacher's desk and he really thinks that 8x5=600, he is absolutely correct. The reason behind this is because they feel giving kids check marks hurts their self-esteem.

Picking grass in the outfield? That's why NO ONE should be playing organized baseball until he is at least 7 years old. At least!!!!!! Find kindergarten kids a sandbox or something, but keep them off the playing field. EL-MOLDO
How are they suppose to understand the game and learn how to play...how do u think Michelle Wie got to where she is now....not by picking up a golf club and starting at age 10(shes 15) now.......she had a club in her hand at 1 yr old.........and were all only young once

And how many Michele Wie's were turned off from golf because they started playing at too young an age? For every Wie out there there are hundreds of kids who got frustrated and quit early. Wie missed her childhood. She missed Barbie dolls, riding her bike, swimming at the local swimming pool. All because she had to play GOLF. Someone said you're only young once. She missed growing up, and money isn't everything.

Re: coach pays player to hit disabled teammate
I have a friend who is a young grandfather, about 50 years old. His 5 year old grandson started playing T-ball this year. Now this guy had not seen any organized youth baseball for years, since his own kids played. Anyhow, he decided to go see his grandson's first game. Due to one thing or another, he got to the game after it started. He sat down in the stands next to his daughter and he asked her, "What's the score?" The guy in front of them said, "We don't keep score". "You don't keep score?" the grandfather asked. "Who doesn't keep score at a baseball game?" "We don't" was the reply. "Why?" asked the grandfather. "We just want everyone to feel good. Nobody loses, and everyone gets a trophy when the season is over" said the man. The grandfather just sat back in awe, and watched his grandson out in the outfield keep throwing his mitt up in the air and catching it while the game was being played. It was going to be a long season.
