WHAT!?!?!?!?
Re: WHAT!?!?!?!?
wasn't mangiafico all-state and maybe player of the year? i am not sure if that is totally accurate, but that would be pretty good as well.
Re: WHAT!?!?!?!?
The question about Mangiafico is, Where did he fit in the history of Johnstown football. Was he the best QB they had, or was he just a good QB. Would that warrant retiring his jersey?
Larods jersey retirement
Has anyone actually met Larod Stephens-Howling? Or had a chance to play against him,or even with him at that point? He was definetly one of the best players in the history of Johnstown maybe even in the state.Just wait until they give him another chance to run the ball at Pitt. It's hard enough to smell the sweat on the boy, let alone tackle him when he's running the ball.

Did they retire this kid's jersey before they retired Manjefico's? PATHETIC.

I was a pretty nice kid in high school too. I don't remember anyone retiring my jersey. Then again, I'm in Texas and maybe I'm just hard to get ahold of. Come to think of it, they probably did retire my jersey, there's no reason why they wouldn't.

It's the only FH jersey that was only used once. LOL

Hey, it was used more than once. I dressed for 11 or 12 games.
I did a whirlwind tornado projectile tackle and won us the state championship. That's why it had stains on the back.

Anyone that knows Larod is aware that he is a very humble young man. He always gives credit to others and never, ever wants the spotlight on him. When he was informed that the school was retiring his number, he was upset. He did not feel that he deserved it just yet. He wanted to wait until he has had a chance to do things at the college level. But since Larod is the type of kid he is, he accepted the invitation from the school he loves so much and from the coaches that have done so much for him.
Re: WHAT!?!?!?!?
Last year at a Forest Hills football game, the members of the 1994 team that went to the state football championship were honored before the game. You know, a little 10 year ceremony. I thought it was great. The problem was, alot of people did not really feel the same because they were not there 10 years ago. High school kids were only 6 or 7 at the time. People move on. They were not there to see what these kids accomplished. Why honor Larod 10 years from now when alot of people would not have seen him play, or would not have experienced his prowess on the football field. There was NOTHING wrong with doing it now.
Re: WHAT!?!?!?!?
Did they retire Artrell Hawkins Sr. considering he held the rushing record at Johnstown for 30 years or so?
