According to today's Tribune Review, senior Paul Cronin has been dismissed from the team. Anyone know why?

according to an article in the post gazette, paul cronin was kicked off the team b/c he was cited for public drunkeness the week before the psu/osu game. if this would have happened in the offseason, i think he would still be on the team. instead, it happened the week before the biggest game of the year. timing is everything. "he is gone, period," according to joepa.

i don't think it is fair to say that lavar is the better player since he was drafted higher than poz likely will be. lavar was a combine freak.

one other thing that some may forget is that lavar left college after 3 years. if he had returned for his senior year, like poz most likely will, who knows what he could have done.

It's a hard comparison, but an interesting one. Arrington could have played any position he wanted and succeeded at it. It's almost strange to think that he even went to Penn State.

PSU linebacking greats all have the same poise and attitude. And no it's not because they are white, but when I think of PSU linebacker greats the first 3 names I think of are Conlin, Gelzheiser, and Posluzny.

Man, was Gelzheiser great. It's a shame he didn't pan out in the NFL and elevate his name recognition. People forget about him, and that's a real shame. Growing up, he was my favorite player ever at PSU.

All of you guys are forgetting the two best PSU defensive players ever.

1. JACK HAM.......ALL AMERICAN AND HALL OF FAME

2. MATT MILLEN...A STUD at PSU and not a bad pro career either. Could play linebacker or as a down lineman!

No offense to the current guys...Pozluszny and Connor. They are comparable to Conlan, Bauer, and Gelzhiesser but c'mon better than Jack Ham?

TAE...Gelzhiesser better than Ham???

Those are two great choices Southpaw. I'll throw two more names into the best ever debate.

1. Greg Buttle
Buttle holds most of PSU's tackling records until Poz breaks them.

2. Bruce Clark
Once saw him hit the Rutgers QB, who had dropped five yards into
the endzone to throw a pass, so hard he knocked the kid out of the
endzone.

I never saw those guys play, hence me saying those were the first 3 names I think of.

It's like kids nowadays saying their RB inspiration was Sanders. It used to be Payton. Then Jim Brown. Then Sayers. That's all I meant.

all of thes players played slightly different. jerry sandusky once said that arrington was the most athletic lb and hammer was the best lb. he would know

defense wins championships most times. psu seems to have a pretty good defense. they certainly hung there hat on it last week. we will see what the future brings!!

don graham was the other linebacker in 86 along with conlan,,,gifto,,,,and bauer

conlan had no other offers and was going to go to edinboro until the psu offer came in late in the recruiting season. i heard that ham wasnt recruited much either and got psu's last schollie offer that year

Last year, all you heard was how the Penn State defense was the only defense in the country to allow no more than 21 points in any one game. I think that Michigan should have been allowed to kick the extra point after their game winning touchdown today. After all, aren't we all enamored with statistics?

The defense is so good that they allowed a touchdown with less than a minute to go against a 3 loss Michigan team. Why isn't anyone saying how great they are now? Can you say CHOKE?
