somerset is flat out HORRIBLE, and theyre AAA, i gaurantee you that the almost any team that qualifies for the A playoffs could beat or stay close with somerset. how does your logic of numbers work there!?!?!? i dont know the exact numbers but i would bet money that if you looked at the PERCENTAGE of kids playing for the smaller schools verse the larger schools in this area you would find that the SMALLER schools have a HIGHER percent of the student body in pads on friday night. how do i know this? becuase bellwood has 38 players on its roster out of 156 eligible students, thats about 24%. so lets say jtown has 50 players on its team, out of 443 eligible, thats about 11%.

I will guarantee that the small schools have a higher percentage of kids participating. The problem is that because of the small amount of kids available, the quality is not there. Many players at small schools would be riding the pine at larger schools. As far as Somerset is concerned, that is a case of a lack of commitment in taking advantage of the number of players available. It was the same as when BC was lousy and not taking advantage of being able to attract players from a wide area without moving up in class.
gunner, do me a favor watch the playoffs at the district and state levels closely this year. I think that you will find that the teams that do well are those that are at or near the enrollment for the class or are a private school.

ok tubmil, ill play along. wanna bet that bellwood makes it to the carpet? theres EIGHT schools in the district with larger enrollment than bellwood. or lets go to AA. central cambria is the 2nd largest school...no playoffs for them, bald eagle is 3rd i doubt they make it, penn cambria might get in but theyre 5th. westmont might make it but theyre 8th in enrollment. tyrone will most likely win it and they come in at number 4. switching back to A the top enrollment numbers are richland, west branch, ligonier valley, united, purchase line, mount union, so hunt, and mo valley....think any of them will make it to the big game? northern cambria and blairsville have even less than bellwood and portage is near the bottom of the list. so what gives?
