Look turkey, I happened to remember a little about this case and wanted some details. From an INFORMED person. Obviously you spoke because maybe you thought I was looking to chum the waters? Not the case, pal. Now, if you have some real information, feel free to give it. If not, KMA.

1982 Mike Walker comes to JHS to play hoops. Works out with team during the summer. He starts off playing for the Trojans and eventually the courts get into the fray. Allegations are made and it goes to court. Walker sits out a few games, Trojans win without him and start the season 17-0. Judge reinstates him after a few games, and Trojans continue season to a 21-3 record. Lose to Altoona in the D6 championship game. Eventually fall to Bethel Park in State action. BP features Arman Gillam, who eventually heads to UNLV and the NBA.
The story is that Walkers parents separated and Mike went to live in the Oakland Area of Johnstown. Was this the case? Some of the time. He drove a light blue Cadillac (Coupe Deville) I believe, and this vehicle was mostly seen parked in the Oakland Area, especially on game days. Dated the Head Cheerleader from JHS his senior year, was a straight A student and attended Mt St. Marys college on a basketball scholarship. His father played at Thiel College where he was until recently in the top 10 all time in scoring.
What else do you need to know pale. Am I INFORMED enough?

You know what, if it were not for that SMUG little NEXT at the end of your terse response to me, I might have let it go. But since you piped up at all, if you had said in the first place what you said now, this need not have caused ANY friction at all. You precipitated it.

To me, any comment, whether it be directly from a coach, player, alumni, or school faculty is all a form of recruiting. Heck, even the broadcast of a football game can be considered recruiting.
In all of the above cases you are endorsing your school to student athletes (or athlete-students as it seems to be at some schools).
If Brad Barbin says to Marco Pecora at a wrestling meet this fall. "Hey Marco, we are losing our QB next year, you would be a good fit. You should look into coming to play for us. With you we could really be a championship caliber team."
Of course that is a made up statement, but it's recruiting. Recruiting doesn't have to be done by only a coach. Heck I recruit for my college where I went, not only for the sports I played in, but for all athletics.
Recruiting can be done informally. It doesn't have to be direct from the head coach.
It is the same thing. All kids in our area have the oppurtunity to go to McCort. With a sponsorship if they are fortunate enough.
Does Coach Salem go out with a list and call the top 50 football players in our area, heck no.
But, it is funny how anytime there is a good athlete, who might not be happy at his home school because of playing time, they end up at McCort.
I don't think we need to go into examples on this one because it has been beaten to death on this board.

And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Re: Do the Catholic schools recruit ???
There is no question that Catholic schools recruit.
The only problem with bumping them each up a class is what to do with the AAAA schools? The AAA schools would surely raise a holy war over having to compete with a higher classification. So to make it all even I say the PIAA should just make all private high schools play AAAA, regardless of the size, that way, if they complain about not being as big, tough tits, they can be as big as they want.

Sterling Sharpe, color analyst for ESPN Football, "To play in this league, you have to be a special player and make special plays, and right now, he BE special."
Ok if you think we recruit.Which we dont because it seems as though Kurt hoffman who tried McCort Richland and Johnstown and picked Johnstown because he got the opprutunity to start their right way. ALso Scott Corson moved out of Conemaugh Valley and was there a reason?????Not for a parent job it was only for football. So there isn't a single football or basketball player recruited at McCort. But since we have this "advantage" move us up to AAA and we will play the like of Bellfonte and Lewistown??????Give me a break we would be AAA champs year in and year out? Also Carroll could easily compete AA.Why every game the play in the regular season is against AA or AAA teams anyway. But even if Carroll and McCort played AAA that would be the championship game anyway
