You guys are amazing. The can was opened - so here it goes. Wrestling was the best thing that ever happened to basketball. Thank goodness there is something else for those "athletes" that can't chew gum and walk at the same time. If they couldn't wrestle, then they'd try basketball
Don't get me wrong. There are some superb athletes that wrestle (who would make great basketball players if they spent the time necessary). But as a whole, basketball players are the best athletes period. Anyone can go out and roll around on the mat. Just watch a gym class sometime when there are grapplers playing some archaic form of basketball. It's like a comedy routine. No one can argue with that if they've ever seen it.

yes bclfan, anyone can go out and roll around the mat...but NOT everyone can be successful at the sport and NOT everyone can go through an entire wrestling season, let alone single week of practice...sure, its funny to watch wrestlers play basketball, but the same can be said if a basketball player steps on the wrestling mat...of course the bball player will school the wreslter in a game of bball, and of course the wrestler would pin the bball player in a matter of seconds...whats your point with 'watch a gym class sometime when there are grapplers playing some archaic form of basketball’...obviously the wrestler is going to be terrible at basketball...
anyway this topic will never end anyway and is becoming like the ‘soccer isnt a sport’ thread…

This has gotten way off the intended subject. It is about a coach in one sport taking a completely different forum and bashing its counterpart.
What would the reaction be on here if a derrogatorry comment was made in some article in the paper about football players being (anything negative or derrogatory) by a local soccer coach? Or about a baseball player by a Track coach? How about for those who are defending his actions, a basketball coach making a "smart" comment in the paper about wrestlers? Get my point?
Both sports are unique in their own ways and I have respect for athletes in both. That isn't nor was never intended to be the point here. How a discussion on how the Nastasi's would have been as wrestlers got into this I have no clue. What's next...Bill Benbow would have been a better wrestler than the Nastasi's?????

I didnt say that you are a terrible hunter if you didnt hunt on top of the mountain. I got lucky and found a big one down low. Those comments werent directed toward noone else but Harry. I didnt mind him as a teacher but it is uncalled for to make a comment like that. Lots of my friends wrestled, its not that i dont like the sport. My spirit team wouldnt have won the last 3 years if i didnt like it? It is just that in the article he made wrestlers sound as though they were a step higher than everyone else. Thats all. It wasn't the right for him to post something like that in the Bed. Gaz. Uncalled for.

smiteye. i understand where you are coming from. i wish i could find a big one down low once in awhile. his comment i'm sure was in fun. he has been on my case about basketball for as long as i've known him. like i said, harry wouldn't be harry without a little sarcasm. his comment wasn't meant to degrade basketball, just pick a little.
