Re: TM Coach is an embarrasment to the coaching Prof
why are you trying to make him out to be a bad person?? I was standing right there along side of him. All he said was "UP HERE" and waved his arms, he did yell at the bus driver but only to get his attention so the kids didnt have to walk 100 more yards down the hill but he did not use the F word. All he did was tried to get the bus drivers attention. But it is pretty funny how it makes you feel better to lie about someone else to make them look bad.JJDuke wrote:Long after the scoreboard read zero Coach Bailey was in the UPJ parking lot screaming at the top of his lungs for the bus driver to get the F^%king bus up here now. I guess he is showing his kids passion for getting the bus up the hill also. Amazing that anyone can defend this man.

Finally had a chance to read the Altoona Mirror stories on the game.
Veteran Tussey Mountain boys coach Dave Bailey's demeanor was much the same as Moyer's, in spite of a 52-50 loss to Shade in the Class A boys title game in which his team was on the wrong end of a couple of tough calls and come uncharacteristic mistakes of their own in the waning minutes of the game.

Read the crew was Zambini (sp), Saylor, and Jarvis. Aren't they all from Somset County?

Sounds like vintage Dave Bailey and with the Somerset County crew it sounds like he was in rare form. I'll make this simple and blunt. Coach Bailey turning chicken **** into chicken salad at Tussey for decades. That's the measure of a great coach. I know he can be "colorful" in his own special way but his antics should not in any way diminish his coaching accomplishments. BTW he was a special education teacher for over 30 years at Tussey.
Congratulations to the Shade Panthers and Coach Fyock for a well deserved victory and good luck in the state playoffs.

Nobody is questioning his ability with Xs and Os, his winning records, or his ability to get the most out of his players/teams...
Folks are questioning his approach, the absence of tact and professionalism in his interpersonal skill set, and his courtside demeanor.
Here's what I know: If 25% of what I have heard and seen from Bailey is true, then he has some serious issues in the above areas. I also know he'd last about a week as the head coach at any credible AAAA program anywhere I have been involved (WPIAL, District 1.) Now, I have seen some Philly City or Pittsburgh City HS programs that would probably tolerate such behavior, but only IF they won continually. If he didn't win, he'd be fired, if his players didn't turn on him like dirt eating dogs and riot at practice while hanging him from the basket.

I have met Coach Bailey and he is a very nice man off the court. I have seen him coach, too, and it's pretty funny. He does take some things too far, but when his players can't afford basketball shoes, who buys them? None other than Coach Bailey. He's the type of guy you hate if you aren't from Tussey Mountain. The man may be out of control at times, but he is one of the best basketball coaches I have ever seen. He should tone it down a little bit, but then he wouldn't be Dave Bailey. A few letters aren't going to change the man. He is what he is and Tussey knows it and loves it.

I am an opposing player to TM,
Bailey's tactics sometimes do get out of hand, BUT, His players and opposing players respect him, his players play hard, and he can sometimes intimadate the opposing players, and thats what hes for, hes not out there to hurt anyone, he is one of the greatest coaches in the area and hes definitely one of the best coaches in the area
plus everyone at Tussey loves him

Tussey loves him because they are a bunch of redneck homers. Like him, they have nothing else. If their administration would sober up, maybe they would be wise to his antics and punish him. There is no call for a coach to act like this. The reason he is still at that school is that no other district would put up with it, nor would any college. Bailey is a pufferfish in a mudpuddle.

dave shady, how long did Indiana put up with Robert Montgomery Knight? Colleges will allow it. I don't think high schools should, but Bailey has been there forever and it's all about winning and that's what Bailey does. It's not like he goes after his own players. I'm sure he will retire some day.

This was not the first time bailey has done this to another teams fans . I am wondering if the old dog is running out of new tricks. Bailey is getting exactly what he wanted. A bunch of people talking about what he did to the fans rather than the fact that he let a game get away that they could of won after leading for nearly the entire game.
