I just find the argument, the school should have the kids best interest in mind when they tell him what position they would like him to play, hilarious. What ever happened to "what ever is best for the team, I'm willing to do it"? These kids are still amateurs. These kids are at the will of the football coaches. They're there to play football for the school, and they're rewarded with a full scholarship to that school. Not the other way around.

I must say I agree 100% with ham's previous statement. It's stupid to move certain kids without giving them a legitimate shot at their position, but if you feel they can be beneficial to your program at another position then you should move them.

Ask Justin King about being redshirted his first year instead of playing offense???? I'll bet he was disappointed when he went in the 4th round of the NFL draft. Imagine what his career would have been like if he would have sat out his first year instead of trying to "play some" at receiver. One more year and he surely would have been a top pick. Instead, thanks that crack PSU staff, things did not work out as he would have wanted. The same goes for Morelli. If he would have played ONE more year, things would have been different. Instead, a bone head move cost him a year of experience, and possibly a nice draft pick. And as far as recruits being moved around after getting to college, what about recruiting in good faith? Sure, tell 18 year olds whatever they want to hear. Then get them into the program and tell them they have to do what's good for the team or sit.

Ask Justin King why he left after his Junior year, genius. I bet another year at CB would have helped him his senior year had he decided to stay around. Instead, he left. You yourself said he played his freshman year, and then only 2 years after that at CB on defense. Let's do some basic math here. 1 year on offense, 2 years on defense. That's 3 years. Let's see how that translates into years at the college level. 1. Freshman 2. Sophomore. 3. Junior. 4. SENIOR. WAIT. MY GOD DID HE LEAVE AFTER HIS JUNIOR YEAR? HE COULD HAVE HAD ANOTHER YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY HAD HE DECIDED TO! You've spun yourself into such a circle you don't even know what you're arguing anymore.
And I think we all know that Morelli wasn't going anywhere in the draft, whether he stayed there for 20 more years or not.

King officially played 2 years on defense. If he would have at least played defense his true freshman year, that would have been 3 years on defense. But because he only played 2 years on defense, it hurt his chances of being drafted higher that the 4th round. And that, my friend, cost him alot of moola. Do you know how many DB's were selected before him in the draft that year? One more year on defense in college would have helped him greatly. What good did it do him to 'play some' on offense his first year? Ask the PSU staff. They obviously know best. And as for Morelli? If he comes back for one more year with all those receivers, and the chances of an NFL career would have been greatly enhanced. Too bad he was in the Wisconsin game for just... one... play. Just one.

There's practically no good faith in recruiting. A perfect example from last year is that Russell Shepard was in the bag to Texas before Mack Brown informed him that there was no offer for him at quarterback. He would be offered as an athlete. He decided to go to LSU to play quarterback. After a week of practice, Les Miles decided he would play wide receiver. He was a big time Texas lean before they informed him that he would be recruited as an athlete. He may get to play QB at LSU in 3 years after Jefferson is gone. That's a little too late. However, he believes that he'll be a quarterback right away. LSU works the same as PSU. They're not exactly straight shooters, but they find a way to win games.

He could have played one more year on defense, you asshat. HE chose to leave school after his Junior year. HE chose to lose money by entering early. Him leaving school early has NOTHING to do with what the coaching staff did his freshman year.

What part of he wasnt good enough to play CB as a freshman dont you understand? King choose to leave early so I don't one bit feel bad for him being drafted in the 4th round. Kinda like Maurice Evans this year.
Keep digging.

No one said he should have been a starter. But if he was the heir apparent to the CB position in the years to come, why would they play him at WR as a freshman? Shouldn't he have played back-up at CB BEHIND the starters? Again, what good did it do him to "play some" at a position that was going to do him NO GOOD in the future. It would be like having a young pitcher show up with the Altoona Curve and put him in the outfield so he "could play some". Doesn't make sense, especially when no one knew what was going to happen with King in the years to come after his freshman year. When you look back, it was just plain stupid, and cost him a year which could have meant something to King and the team depending how things could have worked out. All the kid had to do is get hurt in any of those 3 years and I'll bet he would have wished he would have had a redshirt year, and not some wasted year at WR.

So he didn't have a redshirt available, like Sean Lee does this year, had he got injured? You're wrong again, chief.
