Are you really that thick that you can't see the analogy about wrestling and how it pertains to the TEAM concept. The wrestling team is the Big Ten Conference. The individual wrestlers on the team represent the TEAMS in the Big Ten. The individual wrestlers belong to the wrestling team, just as the football teams belong to the Big ten Conference. To have a GOOD wrestling team you got to have more than 3 good wrestlers. To have a good football conference, you need to have more than 3 good teams. A wrestling team will not be good if most of the wrestlers are losers, even though there are SOME good wrestlers. A football conference will not be good if most of the teams are losers, even though some of the teams are good. GET IT????? THAT IS WHY THE BIG TEN CONFERENCE IS NOT A GOOD FOOTBALL CONFERENCE. COMPRENDE???????? Even though there are some good Big Ten teams, the conference is NOT good from top to bottom. That's what happens when half the teams are losers.

You failed the Reading Comprehension portion of your SAT's didn't you?
Let me explain again. The individual's on high school wrestling teams wrestle individuals on other wrestling teams. Your example would be a good example if the Big ten teams never played each other and all their games and losses were against other opponents. However, if you look most of the losses will come from within the conference and against Teammates. I feel like i could better explain this to you with a crayon.

This thread is such a trainwreck right now.
Listen... allow me to attempt to make this worthwhile to 3 people who read this site. I am gonna challenge Moldo's claim that the Big Ten sucks, just to try and right this ship and revive this dumbass thread.
He says the Big Ten had 3 good teams. First off... WOW!!! Moldo admits the Big Ten has 3 good teams!!!! What a breakthrough! I cried a little bit reading it. What about the rest of the conference, though?
Wisconsin finished the season as well as anyone did. They have a young team and a strong core of young talent. They will start 2010 as a top 25 team, and I am serious when I say that this team is a top 15 team easily. They are going to be tough next season because their morale kept getting stronger. This is the darkhorse in the Big Ten next season. I seriously hate Brett Bielema, I hate that retarded House of Pain 'Jump Around' crap at their home games, I hate that they are completely overrated almost every season, but they are doing well recruiting who they want and not who the "experts" say is good and who is not. They will be very good, as much as it pains me to say that.
Michigan State has the worst staff in the conference and I cannot say enough bad things about Mark D'antonio. This guy is one of the most sniveling little men I have ever had the displeasure to write about. Name me another coach who literally pulls scholarship offers from players because they are undecided or may be leaning elsewhere. He's a crybaby. And a poor coach. I also severely dislike how they award in-state players with a small state of Michigan sticker on the backs of their helmets. Way to alienate the other kids, genius. I hope this program loses every single game. I'm sure they'll be good for a 6-6 season every year.
Northwestern went down to that bowl game to win it, and lost it in OT. This team probably would have beaten PSU had Kafka not gotten injured. I started 2009 not liking Fitzgerald, but he is very blunt w/ the media and he has those kids believing they can win and those kids are tough as hell now. He has severe recruiting restrictions on his shoulders compared to the other B10 teams because of the NW admissions. I have become a big Fitzgerald fan and I like NW a lot. They have gone from a cellar-dweller to a program that will sneak up on you to a program who is tough as hell and WILL compete every game. You should all be closet NW fans.
Purdue is another team who has benefited from a new coach who has a tougher attitude. They steal tons of kids from the state of Florida and Hope has the team believing they can win these games. That OSU win was huge for Purdue. I'd say their stock is also going up.
Indiana lost many games this season on shoddy officiating. They should have been bowl eligible. Another team who has a new sense of confidence.
Illinois is a disaster and will need a coaching change. This recruiting class is really weak as well.
Minnesota is a program with unrealistic expectations in the short term. They are giving Brewster a lot of heat, hence 4 new DCs in 4 seasons (might only be 3, I forget). They keep changing the offense as well, and its just not working. Playcalling is bad, and their conditioning needs a big overhaul. All their linemen are fat and slow. Probably need a new AD w/ some patience more than they need a new head coach.
Michigan is hard to gauge. There's no secret that Rich Rod needs to get bowl eligible to save his job in 2010. I dont think they will be. There's too many teams in the B10 that are tougher than Michigan. Forcier totally regressed this season as well. They lose a lot of leadership, too. I am not at all sold on how he is recruiting, either. Michigan is taking a lot of "low-hanging fruit" as one Michigan fan put it, saying they take kids who they do not need simply bc those kids are heavy Michigan leans. Now, UM is facing a defensive hole bc they took too many offensive kids in the past couple seasons. Especially this year. I do not understand his plan, and I dont think anyone else does either. You cannot recruit the same kids to UM as you can to WVU and Clemson, his former stops. Michigan will not be bowl eligible.
I think the Big Ten is a much tougher conference than what some of you guys believe they are, and I think the conference will have nice depth in 2010.

TAE, didn't the Big 10 Champ lose to a team that got something like 5th in the Pac 10 earlier in the year? A few good bowl wins don't make up for years of bad bowl losses. That's just not how it works. The Big 10 does appear to be on the rise, but did they really have anywhere else to go?

C'mon deliverence take the blinders off. I expect sPitters to make every attempt to bash the Big 10 but I would usually expect you to know better. There are 4 programs in the Big 10 right now that realistically believe they can win the Big 10 title, if not the national title. This is all while Michigan is off the radar map. Penn State and Ohio State have the recruits and coaching staffs to expect national titles. Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwestern can compete with everyone in the country because they can play their brand of football (stout defense and ball control offense). I'm in no way saying the Big Ten is better than everyone else but I feel like they can compete top to bottom with ANY conference. I would say the Big 12, PAC 10, and Big 10 are nipping on the SEC heals. The ACC needs a little more consistency out of some teams. The Big East is definitely the best conference ever.

You're kidding me, right? Are you honestly just making this statement because they came to the Beav and gave PSU everything they wanted for 3 quarters?!? They Should have been bowl eligible?! AE, I've read your posts for years....you're way too smart of a guy to make that statement. They won ONE game in the Big ten! Shoddy officiating?? Maybe E.Kentucky and W.Michigan who lost to the Whosierdaddy's by less than a TD feel the same way and IU should have been 2-10!
One more time....BOTH CONFERENCES STINK!

I don't have blinders on. I'm just telling the truth. No one respects any school from the Big 10 other than Ohio State outside of this area. The top schools in the Nation are not scared of the Wisconsins, Iowas, and Northwesterns of the world. Ohio State had even lost some of that respect for their play in two National Championship games. You have to remember that the Big 10 as a whole won one bowl game last year. They had a nice bowl season this year, but that's not going to make up for ALL the past negatives. When's the last time a team from the Big 10 not named Ohio State played for the National Championship? The Big 10 took a step in the right direction this bowl season, but they still have a ways to go to gain their reputation back.
