alright gunner...it is such a big deal for schools like ridge, nbc, and everett to beat bedford because they do have the richest athletic tradition in the county and have year in year out beat the other schools in the county in most sports...so why shouldnt we be happy to beat bedford???...sure it shouldnt make or break the season, and i for one know that anytime a team i was on beat bedford, to me anyway, it was just another win...but yes it is a treat for these other county schools to beat you fellas due to your athletic excellent over the past decades...

I am going to try to add to the Cube's common sense on here. I think it is very impressive when Hyndman or NBC can win against Bedford or Ridge. To put out a competitive wrestling and Bball team when you have low population is amazing to me. On the other hand, CR and Bedford's numbers and even Everetts at times are close and Bedford has had their number in certain sports (fb,wr).
I believe the days of Bedford's size difference is soon over as CR high school has a higher population right now that BHS. Bedford's largest grad class in years was last year at 150. The year before was 112.
Now getting back, I think it is impressive when some county schools defeat the bisons but also you haven't heard Bedford screaming when the beat Altoona in wrestling or baseball (also I loved playing Hollidaysburg--sorry Dean--always helped the batting average).
So hopefully this tones down Gunner's remarks a bit.

When I look at the athletes, I do not look at the school that they are from but them in general.
I feel that there is too much opposition when it comes to schools in the county. School pride is good, but We should look at the county in a whole and see that continually through the years we (as a county) have produced state quality athletes. This only comes from the intercounty competition that they participate in.
You only get as good as your competition.

Bedford is human and schools have caught up that is for sure, but the Bison seem to be the gauge for how good other county teams feel they are doing. So in that sense, Bedford is/was the leader.
