Sad situation all around.
Bailey has done nothing but good for that school.
They weren't relevant and they wanted to go to the West PAC. Now they can compete in football, they can produce some talent and boast some of the best facilities a AA school can have in the entire state.

Now we have players on here worrying about this, players leaving practice, people arguing about this program.

My advice....No Richland football players need to be on here worrying about what us old guys talk about. This team has a chance at the playoffs. Bailey has led you to three straight playoff runs and made Richland football something worth watching. Appreciate the billion new uniforms, the awesome facilities, and the good coaching you will get from him. It might seem frustrating, but he's not stupid. Do what you are told and get to the playoffs. The worst thing that will happen is quitting on the coaches, because when that happens, you'll lose to far less talented teams like Westmont and Heights who are on the upcoming schedule.

my only thoughts on the matter, i'm leaving this mess alone.

Pats, that's irrelevant. Look at FH and all the talent they've had over the years.. is Don a bad coach because he couldn't win in 2007 without it? What about Salem now?

No not the least. But just because he did manage to have 2 winning seasons, does not AUTOMATICALLY mean that he magically turned richland into a winning program and is some kind of genius. To me, you can not JUST judge a good coach by wins, but by what that coach does with a given level of talent.

I am not saying he is a terrible coach or did not help Richland.

I get your point. But Richland needs to ease off the pessimism. As you can see from the rest of our area, you can do a lot worse for coaches. And you can't tell me he hasn't been instrumental in the facilities/funding that makes richland athletics excel in every other sport and stay competitive in football. I mean I can't name one good lineman from Richland that stood out to me the 3 years they went to the playoffs..

Good lineman don't just appear, they are developed. They have had some kids with good size and strength the last few years, including the current season. Richland had countless of examples of linemen that started sophomore or junior year, yet still digressed and did not make any impact as seniors, sometimes not even starting.

I think if the coaches do make some adjustments, maybe more motion, fakes, better looks, basically putting players in the best position to be successful, it will go a long way this season. And yes, you can still be a running team out of shotgun and do some quality stuff, Richland just hasnt done really any of it.

I would agree with the good linemen just don't appear, specially when you could have an all state lineman playing fullback. Remember way back when Somerset had Vince Pollock playing fullback and middle linebacker or something. He was one of the biggest and strongest kids in the state. Someone had the great Idea to let him run the ball. That kid if he woulda put his hand in the dirt could have been all state. This is just one of Brandon's poor choices. This and when he stole his entire offense off of Madden 2004 and Ncaa 2003 for xbox and PS2.

Very false. The kids potentially going to play fullback at the next level, and happens to be one of the top 3 or 4 fastest kids on the team(and would be at mccort too). He also has many runs over 20 yards, i believe a few TDs in the 40 yard range. If the kid was the typical slow unathletic Fullbacks richlands had in the past and many other teams have had, I could understand your point.

Well I disagree. First is because he will wrestle, i imagine, at the next level, and second, he may be super fast, but at the college level, D2 and up everyone is fast at every position. Pollock was one of the faster kids on Somerset as well, and was by no means nonathletic, and when he went to college he played dline. This is the time when when you lack linemen which it sounds to be the case you gotta find another way to win, meaning put his hand in the dirt. And with no seniors showing up for practice im sure he could be a great full back with no one to block for him.

Clearly you have not seen Richland play. Previous years they have one without a great line by basically passing the ball and passing it well. This year is IMO the best their line has been, size wise undoubtedly. They are actually creating running lanes with no passing game, and almost no deception or "setting up of plays" in the run game.

Also from what I understand will not wrestle in college.

Who cares what you think??? Bailey's track record with QBs seems to be pretty good. I am not sure abut anyone else, but who would want a quarterback that quit because he didn't get his own way? Isn't the quarterback supoposed to be a leader, and not a quitter? The problem isn't facebook at school, its that these kids are a facebook generation. Too much me, me, me. But I don't remember anyone quitting 20 and 30 years ago because you didn't get to play. Our parents would have kicked our butts. Not cried and moaned because we didn't get our own way. You would have been too embarassed to quit, let alone complain about it in the newspaper.

Another problem with too many kids and their parents nowadays is that they think they are better than they are. (A big difference when compared to adults like us who now think we were better than we were  .) Nowadays, when a kid is lousy, its always someone elses fault. Here's a tip - if you don't play well, or aren't very good, learn from it and work harder. Thats how you get to be a starter.
