Alright enough of this nonsense, can we please talk some football for cryin out loud?

I think everyone minus CT and NS fans want to see Berlin/Northern Bedford lock horns in the finals. If this matchup materializes would it be the most anticipated D5 final ever? Can Township or North Star crash the party? Absolutely.

The theme in both of these games, IMO, is who can get some middle tier players to have impacts. NS will have to try to slow Sayler, which will make it important for a guy like Stockwell to get loose a few times. Berlin will try to neutralize the Cougars air attack, which will make the NS rushing game super important. If NS can find balance and control the clock, I give them a legitimate chance to pull it off. I do think NS will be able to accomplish those things, but I still don't think it will be enough. Berlin 36 North Star 27

In the 3/4 game, we hear a lot about Albright and Byers, but both teams have underrated quarterbacks who may play a major roll Saturday night. Township will most likely load up the box with 9 guys to try to slow Albright, but one would have thought Meyersdale would have done the same but they didn't. Fluke will need to keep the Indian defense honest for NB to be successful. Northern Bedford has a strong run defense which will force Stumpo to make some plays as well. The big knock on NB is their competition all year. CT will arguably the best team NB has played this year. As much as brigade will try to tear me apart for this, the Panthers have the best line in D5 and controls the clock as well as anyone, that will be the difference. Having the all-time leading scoring in Bedford Co. history doesn't hurt either.
Northern Bedford 27 Township 14.

I think NS has a fair chance of pulling off the upset over Berlin. Berlin biggest weakness in my opinion is pass defense and NS can really throw the ball. Also, the first time they played, Strasiser was not 100% and was not as mobile. Berlin also had Glotfelty in the regular season game and they lost some speed there. I think it is up to Berlin's pass defense to step up or Saylor will have to have a monster game running the ball- like 250 plus with 5 touchdowns.

Stumpo will have to make some plays throwing the ball downfield for CT to win. I just think NBC's front 7 on defense is going to be very hard to run against. It is probably the best run defense in D5 but agree that their competition has been fairly weak.

Coach of the Year - Sam Zambanini
I think I would take Zambanini over Schmidt because but not by much. Schmidt did a great job with the Cougars but I think Zambanini did more with less.

Player of the Year - Brett Byers
This was tough because Ian Sayler from Berlin is an outstanding player. Byers is just so tough on both sides of the ball. This actually could be a Co-Player of the Year but I am going to give the edge to Byers.

not at all sir, that was a great observation for both games, that is what i like to see, not ripping on a team or demeaning them, as others have done. well said.
