North Allegheny Head Coach Art Walker. Won WPIAL's at Pittsburgh Central Catholic and have taken bottom feeder North Allegheny to a title....
But coaches that start at Catholic Schools can't do anything.....

Joe Majer, CT basketball coach and 1978 PIAA A runner-up and other laegue championships started at McCort (I think it might have been still J-town Catholic) but that's way back. May be Crimson nation can give us more info

North Allegheny a bottom feeder? I don't ever recall that. Maybe a losing season or two but bottom feeder is way too harsh.

I don't ever remember them doing much of anything until Walker got there.
Been wrong before.
Just typically you think of AAAA powers teams like Central Catholic,Woody High, Penn Hills, North Hills, Upper St. Clair come to mind. Not NA

A quick online search showed that Joe Majer, a J-town Catholic and St. Vincent grad, started in 1946-47 as J-town catholic football and hoops coach, his 1950 PCIAA class A (the bigger class at that time) team was state co-champ. He left in 1955 ish for CT. It was the 1979 CT (not 1978) team that was PIAA class A runner-up. So that was further back than I thought as this would qualify as a local example but one could call that "a long, long, time ago in a gaxally far, far, away"

Yes in today's world the Hostetler brothers would be attending McCort
