Lefteye - good point about Bedford wrestlers not winning OW, though I'd have to look at it more to decide if bias was a factor.
sppawfan - Craig pinned Suter at districts last year. This year Suter has defeated Krupa twice while Krupa has defeated Craig twice.
Bedford's Frederick is out @ 285, a staph infection ending his snake-bitten career.
Last year Roberts won the OW even though he had average competition in his weight, with arguments being made for others. I believe that in the last 25 years D5 has had 2 returning state champs, Roberts received the OW last year & Husick after he upset Warnick.

If Roberts won it last year you can probably take him out of the mix, esp. since the weight is not killer.

If a tie vote then goto the coin/hat.[/quote]
From what I am hearing that is exactly what happened ~ TIE votes and not one was above the other and things turned out the way they have always in the past. I think that things were handled exactly right - and even now with Bussard out due to injury it still is right! If Albright would have wrestled Thomas and h2h with Gibbons instead of dropping out for those matches then winning percentage is down!! The seeds in 171 are what they should be. IMO. We will see in a few hours where is all ends up. .

Might just be the year Bedford does get OW in Gibbons - Tough kid and deserves it. attitudes about Bedford are now changing to reflect on NBC , so I hope the past years are not repeated tonight and tomorrow in the behavior both on the mat and IN THE STANDS. Keep it clean tonight guys. Just want to see some good wrestling. THANKS

imo if all 4 were tied for the #2 slot then coin/hat should have occurred for that slot. After #2 was decided then vote on #3, if tied then repeat coin flip/hat. Same for slot #4. If that had occurred then I'd guess that #4 seed would have gone to Albright based on his head to head over Baer. Instead it appears that the committee picked slots 2/3/4/5 out of a hat all at 1 time.
Alternatively the coaches could have voted all 4 guys into their 2/3/4/5 slots, if all got same #2s then top #3 vote getter would get the seed.
This is not meant to be a putdown of Bussard, but he was only in this discussion because he pinned Albright early in the year during a match that Albright was leading at the time. Bussard went 0-2 @ the Thomas tourney, including losing to Frampton. He also has a loss to CR's #7 seed Martin, who nobody thinks is worthy of a top 4 seed.
Would Bedford get to vote on this matter? Isn't that a conflict of interest, as they'd obviously want Baer & Albright in the top bracket?

common Odoyle.
Now your questioning Bedford in the matter? All coaches vote! Do you think that they never would have a reason to not go with a Bedford kid over another? How about Krupa beating Craig last year and being seeded under him? Did NBC cause that? This is just one time that it seems unfair. But Albright had a 1-2 record against the 2-3-4 seeds and didn't wrestle Gibbons which he would have surely lost. Like someone posted earlier. Albright had a better winning % because he didn't wrestle Gibbons or the Thomas tourney. He only beat Baer who was the 4th seed in OT. lost to everyone else.
Look you can argue that throwing all four names in a hat and drawing is not the best way. But Albright didn't do enough in the regular season to clearly earn a 2nd seed.

Bill Creps should write an article about the District 5, SW Regional, and PIAA bias towards Bedford.

That's a shame. I honestly feel bad for the kid. We can only wonder what he would have done in his HS career had he stayed healthy. My guess is that it would have been pretty good. Another tough break for the kid.

I think gibbons will win it because his weight class is tougher than roberts. That is if gibbons gets their to #1 because I know not 1 of the guys roberts wrestles has a chance! He would have to get hurt for him not to win it and hopefully noone gets injured and all 3 place winners will be healthy enough to give a good showing at the war memorial. Gibbons will have to wrestle to win his.
