Re: Richland Duals
im sorry if i offened anyone honestly. i didnt direct any negative comment towards any one wrestler. im actually from district 5 so i wouid never try to put down local wrestlers or teams. i was just trying to state an opinon on a forum. like i said before if i offeneded anyone i am really sorry. ill try to be less critical but that was my honest opinion and it was not intended to uspet anyone. i would never purposely try to start a conflict over the internet.

Re: Richland Duals
Mr. Doak, was hoping to get your perspective on the biting incident. I understand you know these kids and would never speak on a public forum negatively about an individual. However, I watched the match between the Blairsville kid and the CR kid when the Blairsville kid attempted to say the CR boy bit him (happened in the 1st period when CR kid was winning). The ref immediately said this was an old mark.M.Doak wrote:I dont really want to respond to this, but Im bored so Im going too. Ive been around the sport and wrestled at a high level too. I also enjoy a high level of competition. That being said, your on the D5/6 forum, talking about D5/6 wrestling, regarding a dual team tournament made up of D5/6 kids. Your comments about Forest Hills 160 were ridiculous, that kids legit and honestly I just dont understand the need to post on this site how non-competitive you feel the richland duals are, seems like you just wanted to get people going, which I guess you did so haha so mission accomplished. I thought there were some really good bouts with some really good teams. I am excited to see some of the same kids at Bedford, Districts and so on.
Now, I watched your team wrestle and like the aggresiveness they display. Those boys go at it and are very physical. They hit cross faces very hard, not illegal, but they put them in there.
The local papers papers really focused on the 2 incidents (against Claysburg and CR) and really didn't paint your wrestler in a good light for that. So there is nothing I'm saying here that hasn't been publicly put out there already.
Just wanted your take on this since you are closer to it than any of us (other than he's a great kid from a great family - which I'm sure he is).
BTW - watched your kid wrestle several times over the years. Can't imagine anyone saying anything negative about him. Great wrestler, hard worker and a kid that expects to win every match.
Re: Richland Duals
Well first, Andrew is my nephew, my brother's son, we are very close, but thank you very much, he makes me very proud on and off the mat. As far the biting thing goes I really dont know what to say. No one from Blairsville wants to win a match that way and like I stated before CK was the better team on that night, but the situation played out the way it did and I really do not know what else to say. If there are people that are going to attack a high school kid over this, and Im not saying you, I have a problem with that. If your asking my what I personally believe, I think he threw a cross face, the kids mouth was open and it hit his teeth, which happens a lot in wrestling, to no fault of the CK or BV kid. It was an unfortunate incident, but trust me when I tell you, they can paint that boy in whatever light they want, you wont meet a nicer young man, however you view the situation.
Re: Richland Duals
Understood. And you should be proud of Drew's accomplishments. Anyone would be.
I agree with you on how it probably happened in the CK match, and that's kind of what Marko was saying in the papers. Do you have an opinion on the attempt to get that same call in the CR match? That situation is the one that really makes it look like the Blairsville wrestler was fabricating it both times to help his team get a win. Not saying that's what he did, but I saw the CR match and the kid jumped up from the mat and yelled "He bit me". Just about everyone heard it. The ref looked at and said NO - that it was an old mark. And the wrestler kind of smirked and went about the match. He did this when he was losing by a margin of 5-0 (I think that was the score at the time) in the 1st period. Now, if I'm a coach or a wrestler and I believed there was a bite, I would be going nuts to make sure they saw it or looked closer even if the ref said NO. But there was no outrage or disbelief at all from the Blairsville coaches or wrestler. That's what makes all of this look very questionable. I'm sure you can understand why. So the question becomes - why did he do that in the CR match? Because he was losing and it worked the day before?

Re: Richland Duals
I did not see it happen again. I was busy with my brothers 3 year old son who was crying at the time. Knopsnyder asked me about it after the match and thats when I became aware of it. I dont know what you want me to say, I see you trying to show that there is a pattern here and that maybe this kid was trying to earn a win in a less than credible way. I could probably give you his dad's phone number and you could call him and ask permission to talk with his son and then ask him personally in order to solve this mystery if your that interested in playing sherlock holmes, other than that, I really do not know what else to say about it. Its possible, the same thing happened, I really dont know, it seems that the referee handled the situation appropriately in the CR match I guess.
Re: Richland Duals
Well said Matt, I just like the fact it knocked CK out of the district duals and their coach literally cried
