I believe it was 6-0 and was Stephens-Howling's (spelling ?)senior season. That Huntingdon team was pretty good.
I believe it was 2003, atleast that is the last Bearcat team I can remember winning a D-6 AAA championship.

while I understand that the westpac isn't the lhac or anything, it's pretty obvious that you are partial to d6 only schools. only 1 westpac team so far? how about the north star teams of recent memory, berlin in 04 was really good. some others too. I'm not saying that these teams could compete in the lhac (maybe a few 6,7,8 game winners, but not on a consistant basis) but.....c'mon man! just my 2 cents

Crimson's teams are pretty good so far. He doesn't just pick his favorite teams...he's watched film on every team he's reported on. It's not just about if a team won a district championship or not...it's how you've beaten teams, how you stack up against different competition, etc.

Try watching a North Star film and putting them with the teams that we've already published...it's not even close.

We want to cover as many schools as possible but we aren't just giving out free prizes to teams that don't deserve it.

Personally they may have had better talent but should have made a deeper run into the State Playoffs than they did. I just believe that the other 2 teams faced tougher opponents in their quests to the D-6 Title, and then did make it further. Anyways, J-Town played Bellefonte for the title, who only faced 4 AAA teams Lewistown and Indian Valley they beat (they were horrible). Clearfield crushed them. They also lost to Punxy the 1st game of the season. Their record was only 6 and 5, I do believe.
Yeah, you make a good point.

Well to defend my picks here slightly.

1. I had no idea about this 2003 Hungtingdon team, maybe under researching...but it was Pre-Maxpreps era. So they will be on a list of teams at the end for my shout out section. It wasn't out of bias, just plain lack of knowledge.

2. 2003 Johnstown was LaRod's junior season. LaRod's senior season was the #8 team. Well 2009 McCort and 2011 Tyrone are great teams in their own right, Johnstown had to play Selinsgrove in States a AAA team...and at that Johnstown played them fairly tough. After which Selinsgove went on to play Thomas Jefferson. TJ needed overtime to beat Selinsgrove, yet won the State Championship by nearly 40 points that year. So my logic. Slinsgrove didn't kill Jtown, TJ didn't kill Selinsgrove, TJ DID kill Manheim Central.

3. Yes many good WestPac teams out there. BUT I am doing this list based off of District Six Champions. Bedford and Windber were both playing as a part of the D6 Playoffs cause their seasons had mergers. North Star has had some nice teams, but thats about all I can think of. Portage in the '08-'09 seasons were good but lost by 30 to 2008 Bishop McCort, who isn't even on the list.

1. 2003 Huntingdon Team beat Tyrone at home, coming from like 2 TD's down in the 2nd half. They won in OT after they kicked a field goal and Tyrone fumbled the snap and lost it on their 1st possession. Great game, and up until Mifflin County this year Tyrone was unbeatable at home in the regular season. '03 Huntingdon game to '11 Mifflin County game. Then they went on to hoist the AAA D-6 Title that year.

2. I understand J-Town Lost to Selinsgrove, who always has a good team, there interdistrict competition of the same caliber was not AAA, and they lost to 1 ok football team, and 1 really good football team. Don't get me wrong they are a deserving team with tons of talent. Just in my own personal opinion they were not a #8 team. Maybe #10 or 11, but not number 8. Just my opinion though.

I hardly expect people to agree with my picks, thats what the list is for. Add some debate.

It's all good...it's pretty tough list when a state runnerup is #10...lol
