I look for 2-3 Heritage teams to work out games with St. Joseph's Academy. From what I'm hearing Purchase Line and United may have already. The third could be Penns Manor, most of those deals are usually a two-year contract Home-Away type deals.

Eliminate Ligonier and form the old Appalachian conference. Have 3 sections 6 teams each play your section every year to maintain rivalries. Then play 5 other teams. Rotate those teams every 2 years.

Section 1 windber, berlin, con twp, shade, n.star, myersdale

Section 2 ferndale, portage, b.valley, c. valley, n.cambria, united

Section 3 saltsburg, homer, bville, p.line, m.center, p.manor

I like it, but Ferndale's numbers (or lack thereof) would seem to put the kibosh on this. CV may be faced with the same issue down the road as their enrollment continues is slow decline.

Why eliminate Ligonier? From what I have heard, they are close to being A with the new numbers this year. Probably be A in the next 2 year cycle.

Ligoneer? They were the 6th largest AA school out of 16 in the last cycle. Has enrollment really dropped that far in the last 2 years?

"A" Classification was < 186 for '12 and '13. LV was 228, so while they are 6th/16 in D6 AA, they are only 43 boys over being an A school. Is LV's enrollment dropping in the next few years?

Additionally some schools will likely fall off the "A" map due to program's ending or coops, while I doubt many new "A" schools start football, so that 186 number might be pushed up when reclassifications are done.

With all of that being said, from Oct. 2011:

LV High School (Grades 9/10/11): 244 Female, 228 Male = 472 Total
LV Middle School: 197 Female, 238 Male = 435 Total

So based solely on the HS/MS numbers, overall enrollment is dropping at LV, but male enrollment is not. I suspect they will easily be in the AA classification again for football in the next cycle, but we'll all find out soon enough.

That sounds right, though IF males had dropped 47 like the females then LV would be sitting near the crossover line.

I think that an LV fan mentioned before that they thought they'd be AA for the next cycle, but perhaps in "A" 2 or 3 cycles down the line.

I heard the numbers for LV are around the low 190's. That's counting the cyber and charter school kids who can't play high school sports.
