Re: Week 8 in the ICC
Interesting that you should mention that BA and NBC have only played ONE time since the 80's. Why don't you ask the people in charge at NBC why that is? I'd be interested in hearing their answer, since up until last year, they avoided playing BA. Without BA on the schedule, it was a much easier road to that undefeated season and ICC South title. They fought long and hard against the bigger 6 (gold) and smaller 6 (silver) divisions.S Cube wrote:Raven, Gray will have the best individual performance Friday night, in part because he is a great player, and also because NB doesn't have a very good defense right now. Over won't be able to match Gray's performance tomorrow and I'm 100 percent sure we'll here Gray's name a lot, but Over will be the best player on the field.
Also, you say this happens every year. BA and NB have played ONE time since the 80's, which was last year. You can't say it happens every year when it had only happened once. Extrememly small sample size.
Bellwood is a great D6 team and obviously untouchable in the ICC. Why can't you just admit that NB is a solid A program instead of bashing them?
Palerider stated that BA beats Tyrone 1 in every 10 years.....I have some numbers for you on that subject. The all time series is 49-27-1 in favor of Tyrone. That would be one in every 3 years, not 10. Also, since 1980 when Hayes took over at BA, the series is 20-15 in favor of Tyrone. It also goes in cycles, with BA winning 8 straight from 1987-1994, with Tyrone being AAA and BA single A for most of that period. Not saying these are impressive numbers for BA, but competitive and a far cry from the " one in every 10 years" statement

NBC loves to avoid competition. Just ask Chestnut Ridge....

Funny this comes up, NB had the chance to play Central-Martinsburg in the season opener for the next two years and originally agreed to it, but then later on backed out. The gate would be HUGE at a game like this with the schools being about 15 minutes apart. They instead chose to play Northern Cambria I believe it was. Central will now play Tussey Mountain.

Re: Week 8 in the ICC
I wouldn't call not playing CR avoiding competition. Why again isn't CR in a conference?
Bellwood is the best program around in my opinion, at any level, over the last few decades. Good coach with kids who play hard for him and puts a consistent winner on the field since at least the mid 80's. Not many teams around can say that. Maybe Forest Hills.

Re: Week 8 in the ICC
I just don't understand the logic of avoiding competition. It has shown too when NBC continually gets knocked out of the playoffs with 8, 9, 10+ win teams. Not to get on another topic but if CR was still in the conference it would be a good game for both NBC and Bellwood this year. In fact these all would be good games for CR:
-Bellwood
-NBC
-Tussey Mountain
-Everett
-Juniata Valley
-Mt Union
There is no logical reason why Ridge is playing schools hours away and not in this conference...

Penns Manor in 2011. We really didnt know who they were and we had just come off a 1pt win over BM and we thought we had districts in the bag. A realitivlely unknown PM team met BA at Mansion Park and STOMPED us!!! Hahaha Im not saying it cant happen, but when its only happened 1 out of 20 times...I like our chances

Tyrone is another very solid program. I would even put them above BA. 3 state championship appearances since 1996. Countless district titles. Pretty Impressive...

Ok but why will BA beat NB THIS year? You can't say that they will win based on the past. Just because the Yankees always owned the Red Sox and Boston hadn't won a World Series in like a 100 years doesn't mean that the Red Sox couldn't win in 2004 based on what had happened in the past 100 years. Your reasoning is faulty.
Football is obviously a team sport. You need a good offense, good defense, and good special teams, just as you said. Bellwood has all three. I'm just saying NB has the best individual on the field.
