How is it a shocker? I find it surprising year in and year out how teams from that neck of the woods are underestimated ie southern fulton.

Because I expected Bishop Guilfoyle to win. Maybe if they were 20-4 or something, but they were 16-9 with a couple of lopsided losses. Just didn't see them going into the Altoona Fieldhouse and stealing a win.
And had they lost, you'd be the first to complain they had to play a Catholic school. But now that they won, its the disrespected card.
They won, it wasn't expected, good for them.

Didn't say disrespected. Just stating that recent history from teams in that area should tell you there are some tough outs down that way. Don't worry I am sure one of the private single"A" schools will win it all. Please don't bring religion in to it. It has nothing to do with schools being Catholic, Christian etc. I always say private!

My money is on Philadelphia Public League member Math, Civics, and Science or publicly funded Lincoln Park Charter to win it all in class A.
I knew the Fulton county teams played hard, I just don't think people expected them to win that game, that's all.

I root for District 5 and watch the Sideling Hill very closely, but I was also pretty surprised with the FR win. In recent years only SF has been the only Fulton county to compete at the state level. This FR team isn't the most talented team but they play tough. But they're gonna need to play absolutely perfect to even keep this next game against LP within 20.
One thing I've kinda noticed in the state playoffs is the teams that lose the district 5 championship game and get the two seed get better draws in the playoffs. I'm sure Berlin would've rather played 6-2 than 7-3.
For example last year CT girls won district 5 and had a tough road, but SF girls who lost that game had the easiest road to the state final 4 that I've ever seen. I just don't understand or agree with the games sometimes.

Titan, speaking of 105, do you think Homer can hang with Vincentian? I know they put up a lot but they also give up a lot--sometimes it looks as though they don't give a crap about even stopping people....and Homer has a some good athletes/basketball players....

I was at the Cochranton/Vincentian game on Friday. Cochranton had a solid team, good athletes, good shooters, good ball handlers, but no height.....all of their players were 6'. Vincentian reminded me of the Loyola-Marymount teams 20+ years ago. They were fun to watch. Make no mistake, Vincentian plays defense, just not the kind of half court defense that is celebrated by traditionalists. Vincentian impressed with how they defended passing lanes, their positioning on rebounds, their overall athleticism for a Class A team. I had no vested interest in the game, I just wanted to see what Vincentian is all about. They can be beat by a team that can rebound, and quickly pass to the open man as Vincentian will leave people open as they look to trap every pass. I know absolutely nothing about HC being from the Erie area, but if they have athletes they will play with Vincentian. But make no mistake, playing ECC (I saw them a couple of times this year) and then playing Vincentian is like night and day. Spend $6 and be entertained by the energy and excitement that Vincentian will bring to that game. They are worth the price of admission.

I really don't know anything about Homer Center. At this stage (PIAA sweet 16 in all classes) I'm thinking that just about anyone can beat anyone else.

I don't think Homer Center is ready for that kind of pace, they will have trouble.
