I agree. People in Portage can get angry at me if they want but I have never seen the east side of the bracket this weak in a long time. Old Forge has a record of what, 15-10? You should never have the fourth seed from district six winning a second round game in the east by 30+ points. I’m thrilled for the girls in Portage but if Tussey beats then Tussey is in the same position as they are right now. Just think if BG or Carroll would have slipped to 4th seed? Not only is the western final the two best teams in 6A but I think the west had the best four or five teams in their side of the bracket. Vincentian is a monster and I wish Blairsville luck and will be pulling for them hard but that is going to be a tall task to say the least. I hate to see what will happen in the state championship game to the team out of the east.

I'm sure the Blairsville girls are well-aware of what they are up against, it should be noted that Vincentian did lose later in the season to Seton-LaSalle. I do believe this is a game that Blairsville can win however, but they will definitely need to bring their A-game. (as a note, Seton and Bellwood was an absolute thriller won by S-L that Bellwood probably let one slip away....again, Blairsville did beat B-A by 9 earlier this season and Carroll by 38).
Look for Blairsville to employ a disciplined, half-court offense similar to the BG game. With a senior heavy team, they can pull this off.

I totally agree. Blairsville is well coached and will be prepared.

Blairsville will have to play their absolute best game of the season and if/when they get a lead execute the clock as well as they did in the D-6 Championship game. As mentioned above about Portage's run through the state bracket….the east is by far the weakest it has ever been. With that being said, Portage is still playing…..that is all you really can say….they are still playing. They did not win a D-6 championship, but they are still playing…. If they make it Hershey, good for them! I am predicting they will not beat Vincentian or Blairsville….which all you can say is ….they are playing! I like the fact that Portage and Blairsville are from D-6. They are public schools with coaches who have invested in their girls to prepare them for what CAN be possible. They didn't have anyone transfer in and replace a player. They develop who have! You might not see either team again for a couple years, but it teaches work ethic. This is what will make memories for both of these teams and their communities. That is what high school athletics is all about. Wouldn't it be "something" if Portage and Blairsville were in Chocolate Town together! Like I said before Mo and Go better get their best wine and cheese…..Wonder if the 2015-16 rosters will change much???

The brackets are what the brackets are....not sure on the years with this.....but Northern Cambria went that way and SILVER..'08?....BG went that way and Gold 07?....2 years ago Southern Fulton played in the Eastern final and lost to Tri-Valley....Cudos to Portage...They caught a break! Good Luck with it.....Maybe some teams from D5 and D6 can catch a break against D7 teams...That's Life. Good Luck Lady Mustangs.

Just speaking from the Portage side of this question, the Lady Mustangs will return 4 out of 5 starters for next season.Icoach wrote:Wonder if the 2015-16 rosters will change much???

And, their first player off the bench who is only a sophomore, she'll be 6'0"+ by November.

Future is bright. Same can be said for BC and Uof BG and the Community College of JV. Return many.
Re: Girls A and AA western bracket
We all know Portage's roster won't change…..maybe next year they will have to "go west" …..that post was toward BG and BC…wonder if "their roster" will change much. Anyway…Good luck to our D-6 school's tonight!PortagePride wrote:Just speaking from the Portage side of this question, the Lady Mustangs will return 4 out of 5 starters for next season.Icoach wrote:Wonder if the 2015-16 rosters will change much???
