Re: Penn State
I will say it again. There is no way the BIG Champion will be left out of the national semi-finals. A 2-loss PSU or Wisconsin will edge out Louisville and Washington, for the 4th spot. he rankings tomorrow will look like this: Alabama, OSU, Clemson, Michigan, Washington, Louisville, Wisconsin and then PSU. That will be your top 8 teams in that order or close to it.
Re: Penn State
There's no way 2 out of the top 4 will come from the same conference this year. Sorry. The Big Ten representative will be either be OSU or Michigan. The loss to Pitt haunts PSU till the end of the season.
Re: Penn State
Chances are that the PAC12 and Big 12 will both be left out of the playoff. Those conferences just don't look too difficult this year.
For the PAC12: USC has 3 losses, Stanford has 3 losses, UCLA and Oregon are train wrecks. The big dawgs of the conference have to be good to give the perception the conference is good. Most people aren't buying the Utah, Colorado, and Washington are really at the same level as say a Clemson, Louisville, Flordia State or a Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin. Is it that Utah, Colorado, and Washington are really that good or that the top of the conference is historically bad?
For the Big12: Texas is 5-5, Oklahoma got beat soundly by Houston and Ohio State, Oklahoma State lost at home to Central Michigan, and WVUs best win is over BYU. This conference just doesn't pass the eye-test. I like WVU and wish they could be considered but they only hope this conference has at a bid is if WVU soundly beats OU, Baylor, and Iowa State down the stretch.
When a conferences historically best teams perform poorly, it gives the perception the conference is bad overall. WVU, Utah, Colorado, and Washington don't have the 4* and 5* talent it takes to compete with Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State and so on. The B1G dealt with this about 6 or 7 years ago when Penn State, Michigan, and Ohio State were all underperforming to their typical standards.
This year the 5 B1G teams that are still battling for the conference title are Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. These are the 5 historically best teams in the conferences. These are the 5 teams that recruit top talent all over the nation. This gives the perception that the conference is one of the best in college football.
The ACC has Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, and Virginia Tech all in either the playoff hunt or near the top of the conference standings. They also have Miami, Pitt and NC State that have played big time programs tough and even upset some. This gives the middle of the conference credibility. This is probably the best top to bottom conference in football.
My guess is either the ACC or B1G gets a second team in. PAC12 and Big12 are watching from home.

Re: Penn State
I agree abpk2903 completely. I am NOT an Urban Meyer fan, but I will be rooting for OSU to win their remaining games and for PSU and Wisconsin to win out just to see that Moldo will be proven wrong.
Re: Penn State
At, but here's the rub. If OSU wins out, they are in the final 4, irregardless if the make the Big Ten Championship game or not. If Michigan ends up with 2 losses (Iowa and OSU) they will be selected OVER PSU for a spot in the final 4 because of their 48-10 drubbing of the Nits. And that's the way it is.

Re: Penn State
Do you even listen to the show when they release the rankings. They say every week that conference CHAMPIONS will make the final difference when the final rankings are released. Michigan nor OSU will be the CHAMPION if PSU and OSU win out. OSU will get into the playoffs, without being the champion because of the strength of the B1G conference being better then the PAC 12 AND the BIG 12. The 4 teams WILL be Alabam, Ohio State, The ACC champion (Clemson) and the B1G 10 champion (Penn State or Michigan). If Michigan beats OSU or PSU loses then all this talk will be meaningless.

Re: Penn State
by the way did you check out my predictions about tonight's release? It looks like I nailed it pretty good. I just missed Michigan and Clemson being flipped, but both in the playoffs as of now. and Louisville and Washington being flipped, but just out of the playoffs. I had the top 8 listed.
Re: Penn State
Do you realize that right now, Michigan has beaten 3 of the CFP top 10 teams: Wisconsin, Penn State and Colorado. You can't pooh-pooh this. Just because Penn state is in the championship game, and beats Wisconsin, does NOT mean they make the final 4. IF OSU beats Michigan, and does not play in the BT Championship, they STILL only have ONE loss. And if that happens, Michigan will have only 2 losses, BUT slaughtered PSU head-to-head. That, my friend, keeps the Nits outside looking in.

Re: Penn State
If Michigan loses to Ohio State, they have no shot at the playoff. It won't matter that they beat Wisconsin and Penn State head to head. Whoever would win that game would be ranked higher than Michigan in the final rankings. It would be interesting to see if a 2 loss Big Ten champ would get in over a one loss Louisville.
Re: Penn State
If Louisville wins out I have no idea how u can justify putting in a two loss team. Especially when Louisville only loss is to Clemson. I mean let's all be honest it's the 4 best teams which if everyone wins their games is Alabama, Clemson,Louisville, and the winner of Ohio state and Michigan
