The US Basketball may have lost today, but I still believe they'll win the Gold.....we'll just have to wait and see...

The only Americans I am rooting against in the Olympics are the basketball team. I really do not think they deserve it. They are not even willing to stay with the other athletes in the Olympic village. They cannot shoot from the outside, beat a zone defense or play great defense themselves. If winning a medal was really important, they would commit to practicing for more than a month and would agreee to live with the other athletes. The original Dream Team needed to seperate themselves because they would have been mobbed by fans, but I can't see anyone crowding around Shawn Marion and Dwyane Wade. This team needs to humble themselves and realize how average they are.

If we are going to take Olympic basketball seriously and send our best, then I would root for the team. But since our basketball program is arrogant enough to think that they can throw a team together at the last minute and still be the best, I cannot respect that. Hopefully, this Olympics will be a wake-up call to USA basketball and to the players.

Sounds like your a good Amercian rooting against the team. Some of the players we are playing against are good NBA players. The dream team is young heck 2 years ago Carmelo and Lebron were playing hs bball. Its not the true dream team, but those guys want to defend and play for their country and you have to respect that. I have more respect than for them then people like SHAQ and TMack and decided not to go.

WE (US) have more players and better players from the College or Pro rank that could go over and WIN the Gold Medal, so stop crying around. US is the best country in hoops.

Personally, I think that we would be better off sending college guys over. The NBA is all about show boating...these guys have forgotten how to play. Our outside shooting would probably be better with college guys as well.

I agree 4him. Think about the effect that J.J. Redick would have on the team. He shoots better than any of the dream teamers. Add Ben Gordon, Jameer Nelson, Delonte West and we might have a better backcourt using college players. The international game seems to be more like college basketball anyway.

USA has enough great players college or pro to beat them with anyone!!

The USA starting using pros because the collegians lost in 1988 to Russia. That team included David Robinson, Danny Manning, Dan Majerle, JR Reid, and Stacey Augmon. It was a good team, but oddly enough they're shortcoming was the same as this years team....outside shooting.

Guys like Reddick, Gordon and Nelson can score, but keep in mind they are playing against other guys 18-21 years old. I can't see these guys being able to play defense well enough or being physical enough to win the Olympics. Guys like LeBron, Carmello and Okafur have shown they struggle in this style of play. The US has the best individuals that were willing to go. I agree they should have picked at least one pure shooter, but today they proved when they hit the outside shot and do not turn the ball over, they will be very tough to beat.
