To be honest, I have no idea what a nimrod is. I just like the way it sounds. Isn't there a team that uses the term as a mascot?
Joe should have left 10 years ago. He might not like to hunt and fish and golf, but he knows how to raise money. He could be doing that, perhaps, on a national level for something deserving.
Or commentating on ESPN.
Or hosting a reality show on TV.
Or teaching English in college. I admit now that the reason I love Joe so much is that in 1964 when he was an assistant coach I heard him tell a room full of boy scouts that teachers should be valued just as much as football players and even coaches. I remember that line brought a laugh. Anyway, that first planted in my head the idea of becoming a teacher.
Or be midway through his third term as governor -- a referendum in the 90s would have changed the tenure rule--a little alternate history here, Southpaw. Now wouldn't that be scary for you west PA people? First thing Joe would have done would have been to make Pitt Western Pennsylvania State University.
